Watertown Area - best bet for natural birth?

Thread Starter

Looking for recommendations on providers in the Watertown/Ft. Drum area that would be a good fit for someone seeking an unmedicated labor/birth?

Anyone have any feedback on Joyce Wilder?

Also, feedback on Samaritan would be appreciated! Nurses respect birth plans/no meds. request? Rooming-in w/ baby supported? No formula pushing?

Thanks!

Not in my experience.

Depends on who you happen to get that day. You would need to be comfortable being assertive and refusing to let them take baby.

No formula pushing?

I don't feel like it is a breastfeeding friendly hospital. They would't "allow" a mom I knew who birthed a 36-weeker there to even attempt breastfeeding because they thought the baby was too early to try.

I delivered both my babies in Carthage. I found them to be very breastfeeding and baby friendly, no one offered me formula at all. The obs I saw were fine, no talk of induction either time though I did go on my own before 41 weeks. Also its a birthing suite at that hospital, so no roomatw

Sorry on my phone and hit submit accidentally. Anyway no roommate or moving around after baby is born. While I haven't personally delivered at Samaritan it doesn't sound very baby friendly to me.

I hope you've found someone already (I am looking for someone now).  One of my close friends did not enjoy her experience with Joyce Wilder.

I've heard Carthage is better, but Samaritan is in walking distance, so I'd so like to find someone who would deliver there...slim pickings.

Gina, I recently had an appointment at A women's perspective, it wasn't for OB care but the staff and providers were amazing. I've had two friends deliver with them and they only have positive things to say, might be worth a look.
