Here is my beautiful cat, Isis:
http://imm.io/XbCl (the link should work now)
I am posting about her because she's been extra clingy and affectionate lately--sitting near me, laying practically on my head when i'm sleeping, and, just now, standing behind me in the kitchen (wtf? she's never done anything that strange before). I'm thinking maybe she can sense i'm going to give birth soon. I've read about how some pets are sensitive to their pregnant owners and will be more clingy around the time they give birth. Isis certainly is a sensitive cat, so it makes me wonder. Anyone else's pets being more affectionate or clingy lately?

Sunshinelove I can't see the pic. I'm sure your cat is beautiful, they are certainly aesthetically pleasing creatures.  But if my cat were doing that, I'm afraid that I would just assume I'd forgotten to feed him due to pregnancy brain.  Cats who stand too close, IME, want to get stepped on so that they can make pitiful noises and you will give them extra treats.

My cat is just being more lazy.  He gave me the stink-eye this morning because I had to jiggle the bed when I leaned on it to put my socks on.  But the word "sensitive" can't really be applied to him.  His name is Hercules and it suits him - he is strong and lean and not particularly bright, and tends to think that his feats of strength and hunting prowess will be better received than they actually are.  (But he does like his snuggles, and he has lovely silky fur, so he does have SOME redeeming qualities.)

*laughs* I love your description of the cat, spughy. XD

My oldest kitty, who just turned 18, this month, has actually been hopping up on the bed to sleep with me every night--something she hasn't done in quite some time, because it hurts her old joints. I thought maybe it had something to do with her, but it could be her baby senses tingling.

Oy vay, another image sharing website that sucks dizzy.gif. I'll try to fix it later (Edit: just fixed the link)

Lol, spughy, normally i would think isis just wants to eat, too, but i've been keeping her well-fed so her clinginess is due to something else. When she was behind me in the kitchen, she was actually standing on the counter, facing my back. She stood there for like 5 minutes lol. It was as if she was hiding from someone but no one was out to get her haha. I dont know, animals are amusing.

I had a dream last night that i gave birth to four babies lol.gif. They were all small but healthy and happy. I wanted to hold all of them at the same time but could only manage two. This made me sad lol.

Hello Ladies,

Thanks so much for the support and it was nice to get the text messages from Chocolatechip.

I'll post a story later, but wanted to come on here and say thanks. :) Also, thanks for listening to my crankiness in the days (and weeks) leading up to it.

Melany, she's beautiful. Oh, my!

I am up at 4 am. Been up for an hour. My 23mo had a night terror. Great. It is his second or third one so far. My DS1 had them until he was 10yo so I know the routine. At least, with the baby, I think it is a night terror. Not totally sure as it could possibly be teething or something else, but the inconsolable terrified screaming for 30+ min. and then all of the sudden stopping is suspicious. I am NOT looking forward to dealing with this with a newborn. We all share a bed. Yikes.

SO I continued to have strong irregular contractions for several more hours (had them for four straight hours earlier) but now they are totally gone. I am feeling like birth may be near, like in the next week or two.

She is just gorgeous Melany.....as was your belly shortly before!

We got a raw deal with our feisty cat too, I joke she's got a reverse emotional cycle to mine......irritable and moody 26 days a month and loving and sweet to us for 1-2 days. I was hoping my cat and very sensitive dog would show signs of extra love and attention to me during my pregnancy but nada. They both love to sleep on my bed and only sneak in when DH is away though.

Michael Odent believes that cat-owners have easier labours........perhaps because they are used to being scratched for no reason :)

WriterMama, how have you been since? The night and the approaching full moon are said to bring on stronger BH and contractions. Maybe it's your time!!

Melany, thanks for sharing the pictures! Anna looks adorable and content! I was SO excited when it turned out you were in labor. I hadn't been planning on it, but I ended up making sure I had my phone near me that night, and when I got your text I got out of bed because I couldn't wait to share the news here. Thanks for letting me be a little part of it. orngbiggrin.gif
