Starting to feel Birthy... - Page 6

So I'm 40 today and I have a mw appointment at 11am. She's told me I can be checked if I want, but no pressure. I don't know what to do! After talking to my sister the other night, I realized we are the same when it comes to birthing babies. With all of hers, once she had a soft and favoritable cervix, all she needed was a tiny push, and bam! She would go into labor and deliver a couple hours later. Tiny push meaning anything, she did cohash with one, caster oil (which I'm NOT doing) with another, membrains striped with #2... All of these things, once she was ready, resulted in a baby very quickly. I have been the same way and have only needed small pushes to get things moving.
So now what? Do asked to be checked? If I am ready, I have a feeling I'll run to the store and get cohash and Evening primrose to push things along!! Only because I am so ansey! My parents are coming up for the weekend too, and the boys are with their father, so the situation is pretty ideal... Ugh! I wish I was patient! DP wants to let things happen naturally, but I don't know if I have the ability to just sit around and not push things...

The choice is up to you, of course... But be careful with the cohoshes.

Black cohosh can start contractions when used at high doses, but they affect smooth muscle tissue... meaning it also affects the heart and blood vessels. It can cause drop in blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, vomiting.  Both Blue and White cohosh are toxic and can cause neurological complications in baby. (Source)

Just because something is natural does not mean it is safe.

**Sorry.  I just get really nervous about nudging things along unless it is medically necessary.

Agreed with Jodie.  I'd also suggest that we don't know that you or your sister "needed" a tiny push-- you might have gone into labor at the same time (or 1 day later) anyway.  EPO is associated with some negative outcomes as well-- though not as negative as Cohoshes and there haven't been many studies.  DTD and walking uphill probably couldn't hurt, though.  winky.gif

And this is a good reason to just let it happen the way my body wants it too. I have heard of black cohosh not being the best thing to use, but I wasn't sure what the reasons were. I would never do caster oil, I always felt that if it made mom have the runs why wouldn't it do the same to the baby? Not exactly the most gentle way to come into the world.

I talked to DP about it a little more this morning and he sticking with not checking, but he says ultimately its up to me. I flip and flop back and forth, one minute I want to know, and the next I don't. I know that I am doing something because I lost my plug Wednesday night, and being my fourth that would put me into ready range.

I think I need to slow down and chill out... My signs are all there that it will happens soon. Besides, we DTD this morning, I am meeting my parents after the appointment, and my mom wants to go do laps at the mall, which is fine by me! I think this is the most non-evasive type of induction, and my baby will thank me for it. Plus, its 90% positive this is my last baby, so I should be relishing in such a great pain-free pregnancy! Not sending her an eviction notice!

This is very true Buko! Who knows if those things actually worked, and she wasn't right on the cusp anyway?

We DTD this morning and I am going to do laps at the mall!! Unfortunately I can't walk outside, its yucky and cold out... So into the mall I'll go!

Contractions 10 min apart for an hour now. Hmm. I'm gonna go to bed and see what happens.

Yeah false labor. 6 stinking hours of it. :(

Boo, hiss, false labour! Hopefully it's doing some work though and things will progress soon for your Micah Mae.

I'm enjoying a sunny day with my family and would love a movie and long sleep tonight......happy enough if nothing happens for a few days yet.

Micah- sorry about those contractions and I am right there with you, except mine ceased at around 10 pm, so I slept better. Hope you get lots of rest!
Slim- I am seeing a movie tonight with DH and I am super excited!

Thanks, I plan to nap today..my mom is keeping my kids an extra night so I can rest. I guess any labor we do between now and the real thing is just helping right? Here's to quick, easy labors for us later! champagne.gif

Micah- hope you are enjoying the evening kid free, and/or are bringing in a new life smile.gif
Yes, here's too easy labor whenever it comes!

Last night I had menstrual cramps and thought it was just because I hadn't had a BM all day, but right before bed I noticed some globs of mucus after I urinated. This was very exciting! But I also noticed a lack of contractions, which is weird for me since I have had so much uterine activity lately.
This AM I have had regular contractions (stronger intensity, with pain in my back and low abdomen) about ten minutes apart and have had several bowel movements in a couple hours.
I am at work, should I go home?!
I hate to leave work only to have them die down, especially since contractions happen so often to me lately. Help!

I don`t know....but all those signs are sure significant!  I`d definitly come home, if not just to rest in case you end up having a busy night (wink! wink!)

I've been feeling a LOT more frequent BH contractions the past few days. Also feeling crampy in my lower tummy. According to my sonogram and last menstrual cycle, I'm 38w 5d. I'm so ready to be done and am hoping he comes this week. I just had a terrifying thought though... My midwife thinks I'll be 40 weeks this Saturday (according to her wheel chart thingy). ODS was born on his due date after my water broke that morning. His birthday is March 12 and his party is this Saturday. We're having it at a park and the weather is supposed to be warm and sunny! I really hope baby doesn't decide to crash the party!

I left work this afternoon after 3hrs of regular contractions. Mine died down but I haven't had any mucous or show. I hope if you head home you have better luck!

I decided to lie down on my office floor for a while, still contracting now but only a few every hour. Thank goodness my employees are so understanding!

I'm feeling birthy, but that's nothing new. Ctx every 3-4 since last Wednesday, with no progress past 3cm. My last two deliveries were so fast my dr missed them, so tomorrow she is breaking my water and staying by my side.
On one hand I am so excited and completely done with this pregnancy, my depression is terrible.
On the other hand in so disappointed in myself for giving in :/.
I will be 39+4 tomorrow and none of my other pregnancies have lasted this long.

I am kind of hoping my water will break tonight, now that he's on a deadline!!

Oh, and I asked if she could just strip my membranes, but she was afraid I'd deliver in the car on the way home, lol
