Starting to feel Birthy... - Page 9

Story girl- I have been feeling tired, too. one thing I know for sure whether we are in active labor tonight or next week, we should rest!!!

Amen! I've been taking it pretty easy the last two days.

Uggh, i'm definitely more tired than usual, too. Ever since i started feeling more energized last week, i havent been able to sleep very well. I think i should try to take a nap today.

I've been feeling more pressure on my cervix this past week as well. Baby is definitely getting into position, which is awesome! It makes me so excited smile.gif

Had some strong contractions last night, a few that made me close my eyes and just breathe. I'm not going to assume its the real deal until there's a definite, regular pattern, though. I cant get my hopes up all the time, its too exhausting.

Bena and Micah Mae- I spoke very little to anyone last night which prevented a meltdown on my part but I was not friendly with DS or DH. They were both very annoying but I wish I would've been nicer.
Hard to do sometimes.

Micah- how's your pain today? I do not have arthritis but did just learn that I've herniated a disc. Being in pain definitely compounds the stress of being hugely pregnant!

Slim- will you be post dates by Tuesday? I don't remember if there is another reason your MWs are monitoring you closely. Crampiness is an excellent sign! I feel similarly this morning.

Thank you for asking :) My pain is much better today, at my chiro appt he said that my SI joints are mobile enough for birth and I have his blessing to have the baby any time, lol. I told him I'll be sure to let the baby know that.

I've never had a herniated disc but that sure sounds painful!

Labor-wise I've been losing more mucus plug but no bloody show. More intense contractions, cervical pressure, etc. I guess we'll see what happens. This is my last baby so I need to remember to enjoy the suspense and surprise of labor starting on it's own. I'll be disappointed if I rush things and don't appreciate them.

Micha, your body seems to be progressing and you should have that baby in no time.

I saw my chiro today again as well and felt pain free and like all my joints were good and lubed up. For the first time in like a week I'm having some nice, steady contractions tonight. Feels really good. I keep going back and forth between waiting for my body to go into labor and wanting to take cervical ripening gel (I did last time and it worked well). I haven't totally decided yet but I am leaning toward wait and let the process unfold. My first acupunture appt is tomorrow morning and I hope it unblocks things and really paves the way for labor to begin sometime soon.

Micahmae and Writer...we all seem to be in the same boat! I've been getting pretty regular contraction for a while this evening, but they are not painful or even that intense. Just regular ar 5 min intervals.
i'm debating whether or not to call my MW.

I've decided to ignore contractions until/unless I get bloody show. Just easier to ignore for me.

Well it's the morning and I'm still here! I'm in ignore mode like you also now!!

Having really painful contractions since I got up this morning..of course all the women in my family are on their way here for our girls day. I wonder if it's real or not...if so I wonder if it'll be quick or if I'll have time to go to lunch with them, lol.

Feeling the same way Sunshine - But I'm also in ignore mode until something more serious happens. I spent 4 days like this before DS was born and I focused way too much energy on it.  I wasn't eating, wasn't sleeping, just trying to get labor progressing and I ended up exhausted, dehydrated and weak.

Micah - I'd say go to lunch, what's the worst that can happen? Your water breaks?  Enjoy yourself and let yourself be distracted for a little while.

That's my tentative plan, my last two labors were only 4 hours long though..

Using moxibustion on Bladder point 67 (pinky toe) a few times a day starting today. Definitely feeling BH pick up and get stronger. Have been having them all day, more steady after acupuncture.

Sending you active labor vibes Writermama!

Woo hoo, writermama! I'm hoping this is it for you smile.gif

I had two long, intense contractions last night and it made me a bit scared. I hadnt had much fear about labor until now. Now i'm dreading the intensity of it all which makes me kind of sad. I was hoping to go into labor with a positive attitude but now i'm not so sure i can muster that greensad.gif. I'm going to work on it, try to face my fears, that will probably help some.

Sunshine, I dont' know about you, but when I was actually IN labor last time (once I realized "this was it") I was not scared AT ALL. I just let my body go and do what it needed to do, instinctually. But THINKING about labor makes me fearful, the tension, the anxiety of waiting for something I know will happen like sensing someone is around a dark corner and is going to jump out at you and scare you...But, once the initial jolt of "okay, this is it" passes, for me, it isn't so bad at all. I find the courage and stamina somewhere.

Hmm, thats a good point, writermama. The reason why i felt scared and overwhelmed by those contractions last night is because they reminded me of feeling totally gripped by the force of labor and not being able to take a break from it. Thats difficult for me because i've always been a bit of a control freak when it comes to my body. You made me remember, though, how calm i was about it last time, even near the end when it got really difficult. This time might be different, though, since i'm already dreading it. I dont know, its going to happen so i think if i accept that more and more, i'll feel pretty much okay with it.

Writer I hope this is it for you!

Sunshine I know what you mean about giving up control, I wasn't able to last time and I think that's why I had such a tough time. Think about working with your body rather than letting go.

AFM,my MIL got in tonight and I've been having contractions every 10-20 min for 3-4 hours. I'm not getting too excited as I know there's a chance they could stop. I drank some rrl tea and took a bath and now I'm heading to bed to try to get some sleep in case this picks up and becomes really labor.

Wildmansmom--working with it rather than letting go, hmm, i really like that! Letting go makes me feel a little lost since birth is such an active state, how do i let go when something is that intense? Working with it, though, makes a lot more sense and has calmed me a bit, thank you smile.gif.

I hope things progress for you tonight!! I'll be checking my email inbox a lot :-D

Sunshine and wildmansmom- I like the sound of working with my body, too. I will keep that in mind to use on myself.
I am awake, it is 3 am, these are the first contractions to wake me up/ that I am having trouble sleeping through. Passed more mucus plug earlier, but there was no blood at all, just snotty.
I am going to either time some contractions or try to go back to sleep.
Writer- thinking of you.
