22 weeks - spotting

Hi ladies.  Today is 22 weeks 2 days.  Sunday night I got smacked hard by a really rough head cold - the kind where you're left retching b/c you're coughing so hard.  By noon or so Monday I was so miserable I was looking for any kind of relief.  I called the dr office to verify what was OK to take then crawled out of bed to use the bathroom.  It was then that I noticed the spotting.  I called the dr back right away to report the situation.  The short of it is I have an appointment Tuesday morning to get checked out.  The spotting has since ceased - it was always very light flow and brown or pink in apperance.  I have not had any cramping and I still feel our baby thumping around inside.

I never ended up taking anything for relief b/c instantly my focus shifted from head cold to baby well-being.  I am hoping the spotting is from the stress of the really hard coughing - maybe a burst blood vessel?  It could also be a complication w/ my placenta previa ...

I'll keep you all posted after the appointment tomorrow.

I hope all is well and it's just from the coughing fit mama <3

Thinking of you. Sounds scary but I'm glad you've had no more spotting since then.

I know exactly how you feel.  I had some spotting too, right around that time.  Flipped me right the heck out.  Turned out it was probably because I was lugging around a bunch of heavy boxes.  Sending good vibes for your appointment tomorrow.

I had some spotting when I was 20 weeks- never knew what it was from (OB said it likely is from intercourse) and told me not to worry unless it increased or there were cramps with the spotting.  As long as you're feeling baby kicking and it is subsiding, that is all good news.  Keep us posted- we'll be thinking of you.

Thanks for all of the warm fuzzies!

My appointment today went as well as I could hope.  We heard the heart beat right away which was really nice.  I was pretty sure we would since I was still feeling her thumping away inside despite the spotting.  My ob thinks my chest and head cold are likely coincidental and that the true cause for the spotting is my marginal placenta previa.  I had an ultrasound scheduled for Monday the 25th (anatomy scan 2.0 since they couldn't see all angles of the heart) but she managed to bump it up to tomorrow morning.  The spotting is intermittent - it starts and then stops.  Until the spotting stops I may no longer run and walking should be kept minimal.  She also checked my cervix and it looks closed and long as it should at this stage.

Thanks for the update Spotty.  Glad to hear that all signs point to baby being well.  Hopefully the spotting lets up soon!

Good  healing vibes your way. Let us know how the ultrasound goes.

My ultrasound today was good! The baby is doing well. She clocked in at 1 lb and her heart rate was 155.

My placenta has indeed moved and cleared the cervix!  No more previa! thumbsup.gif  So the suspicion is that the spotting is from my placenta movement.  Spotting should subside.

I was spotting at 13 and 14 weeks, also because of low placenta ( it`s called previa after 24-28 weeks). And i was also coughing and sneezing pretty hard, and had intercourse that day. Since then, I had no bleeding, and had no intercourse also. I have a doctor appointment march the 4th, I hope that my placenta moves too.
