Well, I didn't get any shifts so I'm on leave. Freaking out a little here because that means J just lost another week of pay. greensad.gif

I'm officially on mat leave!

It's only been officially 20 mins (since I would've been at work 20 mins ago, I count that my mat leave started when the workday started this morning) and I'm wondering if I didn't finish too soon!!!!  I'm a little lonely right now, and am really resisting the urge to email work to see how are things! But I remember feeling the same way the first few days of my mat leave with DD and the fealing quickly passed!

I'm cooking up a storm, trying to stockpile some food for after the birth, and reminding myself that this is resting time and I am really blessed and lucky to get it!!!

Count me in the group that will be returning to work pretty much right away greensad.gif Since my mom and I co-own a retail business, it's pretty much impossible for either of us to be gone for very long. Our "jobs" are split down the middle and we each do totally different things. Thankfully, I am able to take the baby with me and since dh is a SAHD, he'll come with too and hang out with baby while he's sleeping so I can get some work done so that helps and there are some things I can do from home. But the reality is, I doubt I'll get more then a week "off" and even that is dependent on when this little guy arrives - things like payroll have a small window of when they can be done so if he's born a few days before a pay cycle, I'll have to go in and make sure the employees all get paid.

It's not ideal, but I'm grateful we don't have to do daycare.

It's not really fun for any of us, is it?

I have 10 working days until my leave begins.  7 if you don't count today (which is almost over for me) and the 1 day I'll take a sick day this week and next for my OB appointments.

Of course... I'll be 40 weeks on Thursday, so my leave could start any day!

Congrats Bena - try to enjoy it!!

I have today and tomorrow and that's it.  I had wanted to be more productive this weekend, and every time I thought I should do something, I then thought, I'll just do it on Wednesday - LOL.

I know it's been said before, but the USA needs to get a better maternity leave program!!!  It makes me so mad that some of you have only 6 weeks!!!!!!!

My first day was Friday, but today being Monday and getting up at 6:00 as per usual, then realizing at 8 I could go back to bed was totally delightful - especially since Friday and Saturday were not good sleep nights and I am tired.   Yippee for maternity leave!

Hugs, granola, I wish we could change the US mat leave system right now. Until then, I wish you all the resilience and resourcefulness in the world.

As financially an über suck being sent a week early has been, it has been very nice to know that if I don't get something done I can just do it tomorrow.  Which has allowed for a lot more cuddle time for DD and I.  :)  I am also super grateful that I am getting to take what amounts to 12 weeks although I haven't figured out how I'll pay bills.  0.o
