I've just started TTC

This will be my first cycle without birth control

When I hit the beginning my "fertile window" I ended up with the flu, and a fever of 104.8 (F)

Does anyone know if that can prevent/interfere with ovulation, and also with fertilization?

MommaJ Illness and stress can delay O. With a fever that high, it might prevent O for this cycle or for a few days (depending how long the fever lasts). Are you monitoring other signs? Cervical Mucus (CM)? Using OPKs? These might help you know if/when O will occur this cycle. I am not sure about fever interfering with fertilization, that's a great question. I'd suspect it can but also suspect that you won't O with a temp that high. Good luck!

Okay, so I did a little research and it looks like a sustained fever over 101 F could interfere with fertilization. Sperm cannot survive long in an environment with that high of a temperature. Bottom line, I seriously doubt you would have O'd with a temp that high and most likely, your illness and fever delayed or prevented O.

Thanks! I appreciate the help! I'm now 1 day "late" but I don't wanna jump to excitement just yet, I'm planning to waitwait a few more days before testing, just in case, I'm crossing my fingers tho!

The fever didn't change anything for me, I'm pregnant!
