Spotting after sex? « Back to Group Discussions

Hi mamas,

Anyone else experience spotting after having sex? I started spotting yesterday and it has really freaked me out. I went in to see my midwife and she said that as long as it's not accompanied by cramping that it's normal. I never spotted with my first baby so this was a surprise. I'd love to hear some positive stories. I'm going in for an ultrasound this afternoon which will hopefully provide some peace of mind. I can't believe how nervous I am!!!

I haven't had any this time around, but early in my pregnancy with DS I did have spotting after sex. My gynecologist (who confirmed the pg before I began care with a MW) said it is perfectly normal because the cervix is very sensitive during pregnancy, and just told us to avoid sex for a few days after an episode of spotting to let it resolve. It freaked me out, too, and it happened a couple of times, but everything went great with the pregnancy.

How did your ultrasound turn out?
