Ooh, that sounds like a great snack. I usually do honey or jam - I should see if I can find a jar of molasses.

DH grilled it on the regular grill.  I used this recipe by Nigella Lawson.  Maybe the Malibu rum added a little something special as well?  winky.gif

I want to make this sometime this week! However, what is "double cream"?

I bet you it's something like whipping cream/heavy cream, etc. Seems logical given the recipe.

Yeah I think double cream is just British for heavy whipping cream

Those sandwiches sound yum! I'll be doing the pineapple too in about a week  :)

They were delicious. I added some fresh dill to them, and ate more than I should have!

The grilled pineapple didn't do the trick for me. Still here. 39+5 today.

Haha me neither!  Grilled some last night with friends, along with a delicious eggplant parm.  No baby.  But I did skip the chocolate/malibu sauce - maybe that's the special ingredient!  I tried spicy Mexican shrimp on Saturday night, too.  Nada.  This baby seems impervious to dietary attempts at eviction.

I melted some 85% dark chocolate, but didn't do the Malibu either. You're right, maybe that was it! lol.gif

Brief note to say I have completely fallen off the wagon.  And it's been delightful.  Around my due date, I started thinking that each meal might be the last one I enjoy for a long time without a newborn at the breast or cradled in one arm.  So I've been trying all different new restaurants, old favorites, lunch with friends and family.  Only thing really consistent is breakfast.  After literally months and months of scrambled eggs, they started to sound bad.  Now we have a smoothie with yogurt and fruit, coffee and milk, and homemade granola and milk pretty much every morning.  Or pancakes.

I love this. Why not?

Also, after months of yogurt/muesli/fruit/smoothies, scrambled eggs sounds amazing! I know what I'm making tomorrow ^_^

Checking in as well. At last appt I'd lost another lb and baby was measuring a bit small. After "only" 13 lbs total weight gain, midwife is advising me to gain weight. Have been going about it well- just not being strict about when/how much I eat anymore- but still being strict about quality. We'll see how that turns out.

Just chiming in here to say, "eat now and enjoy it!" I had slow but steady weight gain despite eating lots of high nutrient/calorie foods, but when I delivered at 38 weeks, I was only up about 21 lbs (and I started out a few lbs less than my ideal weight, so really, I was only up about 16 from my healthy weight). Now, one week postpartum, I am already back to my pre-preg weight and am eating all the time it seems! I have also been sick, which is probably taking up energy. I definately don't want to get lower because I am afraid it will affect my milk supply. Nuts, coconut oil, avocados are my new best friends (well, not new...I have been eating lots all pregnancy)!

I've had to change my eating style a bit since weight gain/baby's growth began to be an issue, but it's been going well. Since cutting wheat/grains/dairy I'd continued to lose weight weekly/biweekly even in my last 5/10 weeks, and then baby's growth began to stall. Added in coconut butter, some halvah/dk chocolate here and there, and a bit more caloric mass, and have been able to stop losing- gained a lb last week and baby is growing within normal range, though has still been on small side. Will see on Wed. how she is growing this week.

I am love, love, loving fresh fruit ... pretty much only eating fruit/veggies/nuts til dinner, then protein/veggies. The heat makes it hard to really feel like eating anything substantial til dinner.

Today ...

Breakfast: Smoothie (1 banana, raw cacao, sunflower seeds, flax, blackstrap molasses, almond milk), one apricot, one small peach

"Lunch": Two energy chunks, one fig, almonds, coconut butter, green apple

Dinner: Sprouted tofu, baby boy choy, carrots, avocado; two squares dk chocolate w/ caramel for dessert later

I'm reviving this thread in light of the post partum weight loss discussion! Thought we might like to share how we are eating now.

Breakfast: granola (almonds pecans walnuts oats raisins maple syrup) and milk, coffee and milk

Lunch: leftover fettucine with tomato sauce and basil, homemade kombucha, some newmans own ginger-o cookies

Snack: grapes and cheddar cheese

Supper will be: chicken in the crockpot with corn, black beans, lime, red onion; shredded in tortillas with sour cream, salsa, cheese, avocado

Plus I'm drinking a quart of a mothers milk tea I made from alfalfa, nettles, rrl, blessed thistle, goats rue, and dandelion root.

I keep meaning to ask....

Should we keep drinking RRL tea post-partum? I have a box of bagged tea that I never opened since LO came early. Thanks! :-)

I drink iced RRL tea daily.

I don't think it can hurt anything!! Great for any female stuff, not just pregnancy. I drink it everyday as well.
