Aspiring Midwife in Laredo, Texas

Hi everyone.  I am an aspiring midwife and I currently live in Laredo, TX.  However, I feel very discouraged because of my location.  From what I know, there are no practicing midwifes closer than 2 hours (San Antonio or Corpus Christi) which means I would have to relocate for apprenticeship. :(  I would really hate to leave my house and husband for two years for this!

Does anyone know of a midwife closer than 2 hours that I may talk to and possibly apprentice with???

You might check the state listings of licensed midwives and see if there's anyone closer. You may also be able to arrange to work with one or more midwives at a distance and attend the births closer to you.
