Hi Mamas,

Regardless of where you live, country wise, what is the best brand of butter available to you, regardless of price as well?

And what is the price?

What is the difference between cultured butter & sweet butter? Which one

is better for you?

Thank you in advancethumb.gif

Cultured butter is made from fermented cream as opposed to fresh cream.  So the fermenting process changes the taste and the ingredients.  For instance, cultured butter is supposed to have less lactose in it.  Sweet butter is unsalted butter made from fresh cream.

Best I can get here is from the farm.  But in the stores, Organic Valley Pasture Butter is the best I can get.  It's cultured butter from grassfed animals.  I honestly have no clue what it costs here but I want to say $4.79/lb. is ringing a bell.  I only buy it when I'm making ghee (because it's significantly cheaper than the farm butter)

When I can't make my own, I buy Organic Valley cultured butter. It's excellent.

I live in Europe and have recently discovered organic alp butter:

It's delicious! i am ashamed to say i never checked how much it cost...

I prefer sour cream butter because of the taste. I also read that the culturing process makes it more digestible and nutrients more available. Sounds good to me but I have no idea how much science is behind it.
