Several months ago I had UTI-like symptoms.  I went into the clinic on base and they did a culture and prescribed me antibiotics.  I took them like a good little girl and they called 3 days in and said the culture came back negative...but finish the dose.  I did.

Then, I recently (read 2 days ago) started having UTI-like symptoms again (I keep saying UTI-like because it wasn't AS BAD as a uti, just burning and a little urgency).  Well, I was informed that I tested positive for BV and it often mimics UTI symptoms and when treated with antibiotics it is almost definitely going to return within 6 months.  So, now I'm thinking that was what I had a while back and now it's just been diagnosed.

I was also told that it could be the culprit of my already annoying braxton hicks.

Just a thought.

Oh, I forgot about the ducks.  I want to get some muscovy ducks to keep the bugs down in the garden.  We loathe geese though.  I had them growing up and they are loud, messy and there is always a mean one to the bunch.  My father still has some and they are the same as what I grew up with.  I do like watching the Canadian geese with their goslings.  Such little fuzzy cuteness for sure.  I have not gone to the Salatin's farm and should have when I was living in NC.  I would love to get some of their breeding stock of rabbits.  I think I'm just going to have to start my own and just line breed like they did for rabbits that do well on ranging.

I'm still feeling really good during this trimester, almost like I'm not pregnant except for bumping my belly into things and my sides hurt after sleeping on them.  Looking forward to going to MOPS, playgroup and my OB appt. this week.

Cardigan- Uva ursi is great for UTIs if you want to try an herbal remedy.

I am so excited for you everytime you talk about the acrerage, Cathy!

Well the cat's out of the bag, officially. Phew, it's like a load off my chest.

I'm not wild about cranberry juice, and we are pretty snowed in at the moment. I emailed my OB nurse asking for her advice. I've got a hot water bottle on my lap now and have been guzzling water all day. I don't have any of my kidney infection symptoms (no weird tooth headache, no flopping over, eating like a horse, no fever or shakes) so I think I'll be fine.

FarmerCathy-  Our geese never made it past that first mean bite/chase/whatever, it was straight into the freezer!  But they were so sweet when they were young and the ducks loved them.  I think they thought that they were mama duck, and the geese certainly acted like it!

Congrats Banana!  How did you tell everyone?  We have only told family so far.

Cardigan-  Glad to hear it's not too bad.  Hope you feel better soon!

Jacksonmom-  What's BV (I apologize for my ignorance)?  And what can be done?  Healing vibes to you as well!

No, don't apologize.  I'd never heard of it before.  But, BV stands for Bacterial Vaginosis.  Basically, it's similar to a yeast infection...an overgrowth of bacteria not being kept in check by good bacteria.  I'm treating with a peroxide wash, and lots of probiotics.

No more symptoms today...so, yay!  lol  thumb.gif

Glad you're feeling better, J!

Mama- I sent a picture of all my girls holding "big sister" signs to my family. And just emailed/texted/called the close friends. Then I posted a flippant ecard on FB

My cold has morphed into an ear infection. greensad.gif

Saw the doctor today, he agreed with me that wait and see may be a good approach, but he did call in some antibiotics to the pharmacy in case it gets worse.

I discovered that an ear infection really does not go well with my commute through hilly windy roads.

And that combination really does not go well with what had been fairly mild nausea.   Almost puked while taking DS out of his carseat.

Not a happy camper tonight.

Somegirl, garlic oil ear drops work great for ear infections!

We are all battling colds here but it thankfully is not slowing us down much. I am so ready for spring. Winters in the south are pretty dreary and gray and I am so sick of it, maybe i have a touch of SAD or something. gloomy.gif

I had an episode of bleeding last night. I was totally shocked after dinner to find blood in my undies, as I am 17.5 wks. It tapered off as I stayed off my feet the rest of the evening, and thankfully I felt some baby kicks too. My doc wants me to come in this afternoon though to get it checked out. Aaaaaaaah, I can't take the stress!

Coffee, thinking of you, hoping everything turns out fine! goodvibes.gif

CrunchyMama, thank you, I have heard great things about garlic oil for outer ear infections, but this is a middle ear infection and anything put in the outer ear will not get to it.

I am relying on a warm compress right now.

Somegirl- an ear infection can be viral or bacterial, have you considered trying elderberry tincture (in case it's viral) or echinacea? I don't believe either is harmful in pregnancy.

It went well! Everything looks fine according to the doctor. We might know more at Tuesday's ultrasound. I'm supposed to try and stay off my feet until then.

Hi ladies, just checking in.  I'm starting to think I have an anterior placenta this time.  I felt a few movements at around week 10 and not really much of anything since...  I'm putting on weight like crazy here.  I gained nothing in the first trimester, but in the last two weeks, I am up 4 lbs.  :(  I want the next two weeks to speed by so I can get to my next appointment and hear the heartbeat - hopefully this time for long enough to get a rate and everything!!

That's good, Coffee. I remember seeing the percentage of women who have unexplained bleeding during pregnancy and thinking, "that's kind of a lot." hopefully it's just one of those things, and it won't happen again smile.gif

Banana- That FB card is hilarious!

Somegirl- Hope you're feeling better.  And elderberry and echinacea are both good for pregnancy, like Banana said.

Coffee-  Hooray!  I am glad to hear it went well.

I have been cramping all morning.  Shooting pains on my right side, kind of where my ovary is... Hoping it is just ligaments.  Or maybe gas.  I just brewed a strong batch of nettle/raspberry leaf tea.  I am going to put a couple of drops of lobelia tincture in it.  Any other suggestions, or words of wisdom?  I don't remember ligament pain with DS, but that was 3 1/2 years ago and a blur right now.  Oh, and I got some rescue remedy to keep me from stressing about it and getting myself all worked up.

Speaking of tea, Mama505, I recently acquired both nettle and raspberry leaf.  Having never made the tea before, what ratio of the two do you recommend?  Is it 50/50 or some other ratio?

Good to hear, Coffebean!
