Hi there. I currently have no dental insurance through my job aside from preventative care being covered. I didn't add it because ds and I have good teeth, and the plans available are pricey and not that good, it's cheaper to pay out of pocket really, since we have never had an issue (no cavities, no problems). Anyway, dh and I got married this past October and he, on the other hand, needs dental work badly. Our plan was to eventually get a plan through my union which is pretty good insurance, when we could afford the premiums. We planned on adding it in March or early April. There is no waiting period with the plan. Well, I just got a job offer for a much better job, and will start in the next few weeks, so that won't be an option. The new job has great dental benefits, but I have to be there for 90 days before they kick in, and then the plan has a six month waiting period for anything except preventative care, so dh would not be able to use this great plan until December. He has a tooth that just broke off (it was fake, or a crown or whatever it's called) and he is so self conscious about it; and he has another one that he says is getting loose and will probably fall out :( His teeth are awful he has always had problems.
So I was thinking of getting one of those dental discount plans, from my online search it seems that if I have one then the cost for a bridge would be about 400 per tooth or a partial denture would be 600. We could have that money saved soon, but I wonder if that is truly the cost. I don't know anything about dental stuff, so any info would be appreciated, thanks!!
