Religious exemption for 2nd child

Thread Starter

We obtained a religious exemption from vaccines for our older son (who is now 7 and in 2nd grade in public elementary) .  His younger brother will be registering for kindergarten at the same school later this spring and I'm wondering if I'll need to go through the whole exemption process all over again from scratch, or will the fact that I have an exemption for his older brother help in any way?  We live in NY state.

TIA!

Hi,
We had to get a new approval when we went from pre-k to kindergarten and were told that any time a student switches to a new building (middle high to jr. high to high school), we'll need to submit it again for approval. We used the same exact letter that was originally approved the second time around without any issues. They'll probably want you to provide a new letter so each child has it in their own school file. I would use the same one that worked the first time. I have to think it will be easier since you already have one in the same school. Whenever we had questions about our exemption, we called the main school district office - not the individual school - and it was much easier and more helpful.

You have to submit a separate one for your younger son
