We've talked about Gentle Birth Formula a bit, but I was wondering if anyone's tried Nature's Sunshine 5W? Amazon has some great reviews and one catastrophe story, and then there are positive reviews all over the internet. And then... I'm wondering about the whole black cohosh vs. blue cohosh thing! 5W is definitely cheaper than the Gentle Birth Formula, and the ingredients are a bit different: Black Cohosh Root, Squaw Vine Whole Plant, Dong Quai Root, Butcher's Broom Root, Red Raspberry Leaves. The idea is the same though, in purpose, and you start taking it 5 weeks before your EDD.

Kara: When I had my "big" baby (10lbs), the ultrasound measurement was right on. I know they can be off though. Even though he ended up a c-section for non-related reasons, I have no fear of birthing a 10 lb baby, even though I am a small-framed person. My ONLY fear with "big" baby is the OB saying it's too big and pushing a c-section. I'm glad you've conquered your fear too :) I have seen so many birth stories of large babies being born just fine to smaller people- and many times they don't even tear.
I am interested in possibly trying the Gentle Birth or 5W this time. Haven't looked into it much though... and I will be 35 weeks tomorrow so I better get cracking!
Does anyone know the EPO dosage instructions? I can't remember them, and I am feeling too lazy to thread-search this morning :)
Yay for 35 weeks!!!!! My body is starting to give me those little "it's getting closer" signs- increased mucus and increased contraction activity. I most likely still have 5-6 weeks to go, but it's so exciting! Now... if this baby would just quit flipping all around and settle down like he/she is supposed to.... The head (I pray it's the head!) keeps wandering into my hip and that is crazy uncomfortable!
1Babysmom: You mentioned that you know how to do the round ligament release (which is the same thing as the Webster technique, isn't it?). A friend showed me where to put your fingers to do that, but I was wondering where you do it, just to see if it's the same thing. Is it just inside the hip bone?

Had my (hopefully) last sono today and I am so pumped about birth!
I'm 34w4d and baby is measuring 39-40 weeks and is 7.6#, give or take 15oz. haha and his head took up the entire screen. Tech and I laughed and she said "I assume you know this because you've been having regular sono's but you know you're having a big baby, right?" Last month I was fearful when they told me about my "big baby" thinking HUGE/I can't do it/C-Section huge but today I just smiled and said "Yup!".
Baby's head is resting on my pubic bone and I have felt bruised for several days down. I don't remember that from before. I do remember the feeling of "sitting" on my boys heads before and that's when I had "dropped". I wonder if I've dropped now or if that "sitting on the head" feeling is still coming. Hmm.
If it helps, when I was about the same point as you with my DD (about 34 and a half or 35 weeks), they said she was going to be about 7.5 lbs, but when she was born, she was 5 lbs 12 oz. (and that was almost a week later). With DS, at my 39 week appointment, the US measurements said he was going to be 13 lbs, but when he was born, he was 10 lbs 7 oz. and that was 2 and a half weeks later.

I just do a combination of what my chiro taught me (and yes, he said it's part of the Webster technique) and what I've found online (like he explains it here, about 2 minutes in). My chiro just releases them in one place (right inside below the hip bone, probably where you're referring to) but I start there work my way up the ligament, seemingly similar to what the guy in the video does.

Oofda, this baby has dropped! Maybe that was why I was so horrendously crabby and exhausted yesterday. The good news is I can eat again the bad news is I can't walk, haha. I think this is the first time I have ever felt one of my babies drop since I carried my other 2 so low all the way through the pregnancies. Also, I have been having a strange sensation on my cervix. Like if you were to blow bubbles underwater or something.
ETA: I can feel headbutting in my rectum/cervix when baby has hiccups and just pressure in my rectum/cervix whenever I am not lying down.

DH and I took a holistic and natural parenting class. The first baby in the group of eight of us has been born. The mama was due a week before me - looks like her LO was almost 37 weeks. Another mama was due last week and no word from her that her LO was born. This makes it all the more real.

Sorry guys! I've been a little M.I.A. Thanks for thinking about me, though! :) You guys are the best!!
DH and I have been SO busy for the past week! We finally have our house almost completely finished (thank goodness)! We chose this house (even though we will still be doing some renovations later on, like replacing the old carpet with hardwood and whatnot) because of the setup. The master bedroom has a room that is connected without a door separating the two. It's a wide open entrance area between them. Even though I will probably end up cosleeping, I really wanted a space for baby and all of his stuff. So, being a first time mom and thinking that I need EVERYTHING, we set up a nursery for him. It's finally completely finished (I'll have to post pictures later)! I'm so in love with it! I'll be kicking myself later, though, when I'm tired of the wall with brown and blue stripes and decide that I have to paint back over all of that nonsense.
I was a little bit worried this week that I might have a bladder infection or a UTI of some sort. I feel like I have to pee ALL THE TIME but my bladder doesn't feel full, per se. I don't think that's what it is, though, because I'm feeling way more pressure down there than I was before. Don't know if I've really "dropped," but he's definitely got something going on. I have a doctor's appointment in the morning, so we will see.
We have a heat wave going on right now where I live. It's been like 65 degrees for the last couple of the days and it feels AWESOME. I have been in the best mood from the weather. I am NOT a winter person and here, we get a decent amount of snow and it stays pretty cold in the winter. Yuck. The only bad part is that I couldn't fit into a single pair of my capris to wear yesterday or today, so I've just worn thin little cotton dresses with leggings. I don't like wearing winter clothes and this weather is kind of saying "Hey! Spring is almost here! So is your baby!" :D
And wherever you are BeanBean, I had a dream about you a couple of nights ago! (Hope that's not too creepy, lol) I don't remember my dreams really well but I think you had posted a video on here about baby Mira being born (kind of like a vlog type thing). I giggled at myself thinking that maybe she will come in the next few days!

Bambi: That's awesome about the house! We are hoping to buy our first house this year and I'm anxious that we won't find anything we like that we can afford.
I decided to splurge and order Gentle Birth. I've never tried it before and I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a go. I ordered the kind with everything in it (RRL and Blue Cohosh)... so does that mean I shouldn't drink RRL tea? Should I refrain from EPO as well?
I really, really need to write some articles because all these extra little purchases are starting to add up. It's just so hard to make myself sit down and write (articles... I could write personal stuff all day long), and then I feel like it's hanging over my head because I get paid $25-30 per article and it only takes like an hour to do one.

Today was the first day in a week I woke up in the morning without blood. I finally got my prescription for the vaginal infection. When I talked to my midwife she said she wanted to wait until the culture came back to treat me, and the culture would take 3 days. So I saw my midwife Tuesday and didn't get my meds until Sat. I was in agony from this infection. Ugh. But I'm feeling much better today.
Yesterday DH did so much around the house. Finally got all boxes out of the dining from moving in over a month ago. Cleaned out our room and I started organizing baby stuff in the changing table in the boys room. I love not going to work - I have so much energy!
I started reading some birth stories on the website "birth without fear" and its really making me not want to go into the hospital when the time comes. Last baby I had a homebirth where my midwife didn't make the birth and DH caught the baby. I want that again. I'm debating just waiting too long to go to the hospital and birthing in my bathtub. The only thing I don't know too much about is clamping and cutting the cord. Everything else I really think I could handle doing unassisted. Who is it on here who does unassisted births - what do you do for the cord cutting?
I'm getting quite sick of people making comments about this being my 3rd and how crazy I am. My sister is pregnant and due in August with her 2nd. She's always making comments about how they're done after that and two kids is enough and how now that I'll have 3 they're going to outnumber me! My cousin is the same way - he has two kids, his youngest being 7 mths and he talks all the time about how they can't have more because they want to travel and they need sleep blah blah. Like I don't like sleep? Funny thing is DH and I are still in discussion about having a 4th when the time comes so I'd love to see what they say then!
When do you recomend to start taking EPO? And how long does it take to work?

Those are big measurements! Do you feel they are fairly accurate for you?
My 30ish wk u/s measurements were ahead (and u/s measurement are usually pretty accurate for me), putting baby at about a week and a half ahead of my dates, but I don't dare mess with my EDD because only the head measurements throw it off! LOL (like DS, this baby's head circ measures like 3 weeks ahead.....my hubby's fam makes huge heads).
Yes, I do think they are accurate. I've been having sono's all pregnancy long because of me having Sjogren's and baby has been gaining on the charts from the beginning. At 30w he was measuring 35w and was 5#, give or take 12oz. I've had 2 sono's a month since 16 weeks.
However I do have high hopes of going in the next couple weeks, so before the end of the month. If I do make it to April, oye, then I'll really classify him as a "big baby" myself.

I'm still hanging around
so happy to be "full term" today at 37 weeks. Now just waiting on baby... But she seems awfully comfy in there lol I have another appt tomorrow... So hopefully I've made at least a little progress!

I am not really sure on the GBF....I ordered mine without RRL only because I drink a TON and I have it in a couple other supplements I take. But I am not really of the belief that you can get "too much" RRL so I wasn't quite sure what to think of that....

I'm not doing unassisted, at least, not intentionally since DH kinda nixed that in the ass.. but they sell cord clamps, so you could put that on the cord and then cut with brand new, sterile scissors(medical grade ones, not Crayola brand of course lol!), or I've heard of people burning it off.

Did daylight savings wreck havoc on anyone else's kids/themselves? I started our routines as usual all day yesterday, and my kids were STILL completely thrown off. Instead of taking a nap at noon like they normally do, they just sat in their beds for an hour, so I let them go play, come 3pm, they passed out and were like logs until darn well 6pm(I'm talking DH and I literally started shouting to no avail!)
Sylas fell asleep around 9-10pm last night, which is normal bedtime is 8-8:30, so not a HUGE disaster, but certainly need him back on track, Autumn on the other hand just sat in her bed until 1am. Every time I went to check on her, she was just sitting there reading. I finally caved and gave her my ipad with a movie on, and thought that would put her to sleep, WRONG! 3:30am she comes into my room, wakes me up, and asks me the password to my ipad so she can get another movie! I took it away, and it was another hour of fighting with her to go to sleep. She fell asleep right around 4:45, and woke up at 10:30(normally is up by 7). How the hell does ONE hour cause so much darn damage?!?!!?
