Birthing options - help!

Hi! I'm new to this site and group.  About 81/2 weeks along and this is my first!  I'm very interested in the potential of using a midwife and having a natural birth.  Concern?  there doesn't seem to be that many in my area...South Jersey.  Hoping someone here may have some information or tips.  Thanks and congrats to all of you!  Danielle

I've been so happy with the midwives I've had and my homebirths.  I've had to start over the search about six times for my last five babies due to moving, midwives retiring, and one I had to fire (that was crazy!).  Now the internet is certainly the best place to start.  But when I lived in NY and direct entry midwifery wasn't legal, I had to use other avenues, like talking to folks at health food store, friends, things like that.  I found one lovely midwife in Philadelphia by calling my local La Leche League leader.  Not many midwives is different than none.  I encourage you to formulate some questions and interview several and choose someone you feel like you really connect with, agree with philosophically, and feel like you can trust.  Good luck!  Leslie
