Hello! It feels so weird to be here. I just saw that it says "senior member" over there...holy cow. This board format has really been updated since the last time I visited MDC!
Anyway, I'm 38, expecting #3, have 7 year old daughter & 10 year old son, really, really hoping for a girl this time. I have two brothers and always wanted a sister so desperately, and I really want my daughter to have a sister even though they'll be almost 8 years apart. Based on ovulation I'm due on Nov 7th I think. We weren't actively TTC but we had decided to not do a whole lot to prevent it either, and so here I am. Sparklemaman we have that age gap in common--I'm glad I'm not the only one with such a big age difference. I hope they are close even though there will be so much of a gap. We also have the exact same EDD--by LMP I'm the 10th too.
I had my son at a hospital and he has a severe congenital heart defect and had 3 surgeries (and will need more). I had my daughter at home after we had a fetal echocardiogram that ruled out serious heart issues. I'm super terrified right now of heart defects and will be lighting a lot of candles between 7-9 weeks or so when the major structures of the heart form. My son also has high functioning autism. I'm planning to have several u/s and fetal echo again this time and debating other testing, like amnio, due to my age. I have never done that before but I wasn't this old! If all of those are clear I'm hoping to have another homebirth if I can find a midwife I like. We live 3,000 miles away from my old midwife and I don't think she's willing to fly out ;) I guess I have to get on that though don't I??
I feel OK, though it feels like my uterus might fall out already. Not a great sign at 4 1/2 weeks!! What's it going to be like in 30? A little hungrier, and craving savory rather than sweet, not really tired, sore boobs, that's about it. I am really hoping it will be easier this time. I didn't have a difficult pregnancy with my son, but it was horrendous with my daughter, mostly because my son was just being dx with autism and was really, really challenging at that time and I was totally worn out.
What prenatals do you all take? I had severe nausea and vomiting last time (not diagnosed HG, but gall bladder problems), and I don't have my gall bladder anymore but I have a hard time with vitamins in general. They always make me feel sick. I bought a small bottle of the rainbow light ones to try and they make me feel nauseous even if I take them with food. What others should I try?
