May mamas roll call - Page 2

Hi All,
I'm Rachel, I'll be 28 in a couple of days, and I'm married to Steve, who's 36 and wonderful. We've known each other 12 years, been together 8, and will be celebrating our 6th anniversary this summer. Our current home is on California's beautiful Central Coast, and we plan to stay here as long as we can to raise this baby. We have three cats, Pumpkin, Moulet (7 1/2 year-old littermates), and Little, an approximmately one-year-old who showed up as a stray last summer. We've also been providing foster care to a friend's aquatic turtle for a couple of years. Our new little bundle, expected May 23, will be our first human child, and we can't wait!

We chose not to find out the sex of the baby, but if it's a boy the name will be Avery, and if it's a girl it will be Lily or maybe Lilian. We're at a total loss for middle names. The birth is planned for the birthing center at a very cool local hospital with a very cool ob. Basically as long as it's safe for me and the baby, they don't care what we do. We'll be cloth diapering, slinging, breastfeeding, and cosleeping, and both of us are so excited to start this wonderful journey together!

Hi All, resident lurker checking in!

My name is Dawn and I'm 28. Married to Daniel who is 27 (he enjoys teasing me about him being married to an older woman, even though its only by 6mo, heh) We met online, and I moved from Virginia to live here with him in beautiful Colorado. We have two furbabies also, Jackie a retired greyhound and Morrocco a long haired noisy cat, heh.

I have two wonderful children from my previous marriage, Olivia is 9 and Jamie is 7, they are both looking forward to the baby and every day ask me "do you think the baby will come tonight?"

I'm due May 6th, but have a feeling it will be sooner than that.

The u/s said this one is a lil girl, I'll believe it when the baby is born, since I didn't actually see any sex parts, we just had the tech write it down for us to look at later since the u/s was on Christmas eve. I have alot of gender neutral clothing just in case though!

The name we have picked out is Elliana. I'm still stuck on a middle name, I like Rose and DH likes Avleen so we haven't decided yet.

I'll be having a hospital birth, at first I was upset at that, but after my tour and talking at length to the nurse she assured me I can have/do just about what ever I want, and what I want isn't really out the ordinary she says (squat for birth, delay meds and eye gunk, delay cord cutting till it stops pulsing and using the tub/whirlpool for pain relief instead of medicine... etc) so now I'm actually looking a lil forward to it

I'll be breastfeeding, slinging and cloth diapering. The service just called me today and said they will start my deliveries on Monday! eek! so close!

I guess thats about it, I'll try to keep more active in the threads, I tend to just read them and not really have anything exciting to add.

I'm Claudia and I happily turned 30 years old the middle of last year. My partner Bill is 28 and we've been together 9 years this June. We were both raised in the fast-paced Northeast/Mid-Atlantic and moved out to Oregon almost 7 years ago for a change of scenery and lifestyle and fell in love with the community.

Our black-and-white-tuxedo-cat-Turbo-who-loves-to-ride-in-cars adopted us a couple of months after our move, and then our fluffy-soft-chatty-black-cat Jorja showed up on the doorstep of our home four years ago demanding to join our family by meowing for 15 minutes straight.

This is our first human baby, and we are anxiously and nervously and happily awaiting their appearance in late May or early June. I hang around here because the June thread is way more hospital/doctor oriented, and we are planning a homebirth with two awesome midwives, their apprentice (a friend of mine and a doula and childbirth educator), and my younger sister (unless the babe decides to be born before she flies in from Boston).

My sister is coming to help us for three weeks beginning the end of May, and then my mom arrives from New York mid-June with my dad flying in for a few days at the end of June to meet the "little pumpernickel".

sending everyone peaceful birthing vibes and a happy, healthy baby...

warmly,
claudia

fiddlefern here, aka Beth

I'm a first-time mom who lives in Portland, OR with my nurturing husband, his baby (of the feline persuasion), and our human-child-to-come.

Until the end of this week, I teach math and orchestra in the public schools. I'm hoping to spend more time among the ferns than the fiddles when my maternity leave starts, soaking in some peace and quiet to prepare me for this new phase in life that will start some time around May 12th.

Great thread KK Mamma

Hi ~ I'm Kara (28), Dh is Tom (30) and Ds is Isaiah (3). We are anxiously awaiting the birth of baby#2 and are hopeful to see her/him anyday now!!!!! I'm due April 30th and never though I'd make it this close to my due date as Isaiah was 8 days early. We have a great midwife and her assistant who will be attending our birth. I have a jacuzzi tub here at the house we are renting (sold our own home in Jan of this year) that I may use to birth in. Ds was a water birth and he and I both loved it, but I seem to see this on coming on the futon????? We will hopefully see very soon!!!!
We are east coast plants in northern New Mexico and are building, well Dh is building, our new home here this summer (I have my 9 month pregnancy and labor and now Dh has his!!!!). We are really excited about our very busy but very wonderful summer/fall ahead!!!!!

Blessings to all of you who I have gotten to know over these 9 months, Hope all these babies make it here safe and sound!!!!

Okay... finally checking in after a long lurk.

I'm Megan, 31 yrs old, married to John, my 40 yr old dh. We live in Sonoma, CA with my almost-12 yr old step-son and our Manx cat named Cleopatra. We have been married for just about 3 yrs, together for 8.

This is my first child, my husband's second (duh!), and my step-son's first sibling. We're all very excited for her arrival... which is slated for sometime around 5/18, but I have a pretty good feeling she's going to make us hold out until about the 24th. Call it mother's intuition... call it denial... I dunno, I just have a hunch.

We're having a hospital birth with a doula (LOVE her!), and we're going to try our best to have a natural and intervention free birth.

So anyway, that's me!

Megan

I've been lurking awhile and it's now time to stand up and be counted.

first time mom here, living in Connecticut. I'm 30, husband is 31, and skatty catty is considered "mature" at 7 years. I'm a doctoral student in nursing, sweets is a PhD student in forestry and the cat is on an extended home study program with a focus in box scratching and bug chasing. (double major)

We're very excited for this baby boy, and hope to have an intervention-free birth at the hospital. We have a doula and took bradley classes to try to prepare for this big event. I generally have a pretty low tolerance for pain, but after birth classes and doula meetings I feel up to the challenge.

The little lentil is due May 25th. I have a feeling he will come early, and my sweets is positive he will come late. I hope he comes early because I am more than ready to not be pregnant any more. and I'd like an excuse to get out of taking my qualifying exams on May 20-21st and put them off for the summer....

pleased to have found this forum!

Oy, I just typed this long post and something happened and it's GONE.

I guess I'll start over!

I'm Ana, just turned 32 on April 26th, married to Chris, 32, and Mama to Soren (10 on May 20th!), Mirabai (8/14/96), and Chiara (8/29/00). Graysen (yep, it's a boy!) will be arriving a bit early. We were due in June but I have a placenta previa that has not migrated so we'll be scheduling a section for the end of this month. My guess is May 24th--three weeks from today! I should know on Thursday. Course, if I start bleeding OR the placenta migrates late (!) plans will change....

My other three (Chris is their stepdad) were born at home and I was planning another. Oh well, my midwife has continued to do my prenatals and will be there in the hospital with me. She's been fabulous, and my OB is wonderful too. I've met many of the day nurses at St. Vincent's and feel SO much more comfortable about the whole thing. I was an emotional wreck at the beginning of April.

DawnaRose--we can't decide on a middle name either. I like Denali (to Chris that's a car...it was a mountain first!!) and Chris favors Huxley. BTW, Mirabai's middle name is Eliana--one letter off your choice for a first name. I love that name!! Oh, and one more thing--Chris and I met online too, and I couldn't be happier! Well, if the kids' dad paid child support...that would make me happier!

Pottermamma--how great to see another New Mexican here! I am SO envious--we desperately want to build our house. And I do love it up there where I imagine you are (somewhere on the Enchanted Circle?). Sigh...I would surely love to hear more about your plans!

Well, c'est moi! I can't believe it's May already!!

Hi! I'm new so I thought I should introduce myself! I'm Julie, married to DH, Jason for 3 years in October! We just had our first son, Benjamin on May 26th. He was born 10 days before his due date at 7 lbs even and 20 inches long! I can't get enough of him! I had a wonderful birth experience, a midwife delivered him at 3:58 am. I did have an epi but I'm glad because I was able to see everything with the help of a mirror. My mom and DH were there cheering me along!
