We happened to come across your question and, first off, congratulations on your pregnancy and good job on your Omega-3 fatty acid supplementation! There are certainly benefits to taking DHA/EPA during pregnancy, as evidenced in many peer-reviewed scientific studies. The FDA, however, has posted a warning:
According to the FDA (62 Fed. Reg. at 30,753): "Ingestion of more than 3 grams of Omega-3 fatty acids per day has been shown to have potential antithrombotic effects, including an increased bleeding time and International Normalized Ratio (INR). Administration of Omega-3 fatty acids should be avoided in patients taking anticoagulants and in those known to have an inherited or acquired predisposition to bleeding diathesis."
