IV sedation for 30 minute procedure drink questions

I am wondering with iv sedation wh some say no food or drink for 6-8 hrs others say no food 6-8 hrs beore sedation but clear liquids are ok 2-4 hrs before sedation so it ponders me with interest that there r differences and I was wondering anyone who had sedation drank liquids 2 hrs before procedure and what was the result
