The Baby Made Me Eat It!! - Page 2

I'm onto spicy Asian food now. My coworker used to bring in hot and sour soup and all sorts of goodies during my first pregnancy. Took DH out for pho for lunch today and had Korean barbecue for dinner. Some sort of spicy noodle soup is on the menu for tomorrow. Yummm!!

Woops that would be DS that I took out for lunch. DH has no knowledge of said pho!

This made me throw up a little in my mouth ROTFLMAO.gif

I hate ramen noodles the other night.  And I am not proud.  And I just lied.  I ate them again last night, too.  shy.gifredface.gif

DH stopped by Trader Joe's for me on his way home last night because I was craving their chicken salad. I ate the entire container as soon as he got home. shy.gif

Right now I'm craving Pei Wei spicy chicken, or maybe caramel chicken. Yum.

I was totally obsessed with pickles last week, and they actually made the morning sickness bearable!! This week I have been craving fruit like mad! Pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, kiwis... I can't seem to get enough!

Pickles are on my grocery list for tomorrow! Between me and DS we can't keep a full jar in the house. I also had a champagne mango to die for the other night.

Fruit is always my pregnancy crave--every time.  Right now it's orange juice.  I'm drinking a ton of it.  Mangos too, yum!!  Otherwise food is ugh :(

I'm BBW, to begin with, so I'm watching my weight like a hawk. It's a good thing, then, that I generally crave pretty healthy stuff when pregnant. With the first, it was broccoli. With the second, it was corn (frozen peaches & cream - I ate bagfuls). This time, it's avocado. I keep it down to 1 a day, but I could eat way, way more.

I made tortilla roll ups yesterday and that was delicious. Cream cheese mixed with fresh basil and parsley spread on a tortilla and then romaine, turkey, swiss, tomatoes, sunflower seed kernals, and bean sprouts added in a line down the middle. Slice like sushi rolls and yumm. I was in heaven. Still sounds good come to think of it....

What I really want is thai food. Salad rolls (going to make some tomorrow), red curry, broccoli peanut sauce...mmm..Thats really  not a pregnancy craving though. I would eat that way every day if I could. redface.gif Yogamom - Hot and Sour soup sounds good. Had it once eons ago, but sounds like something to try again.

Oh man everyone is eating tasty sounding food... I was at wegmans today and saw 5 layer dip and... I bought it. Couldn't help it really! So. Good. Nausea has subsided for now so I just want food now lol
post #34 of 68

Ahhh Wegmans! Jjh you are making me jealous. I'm originally from upstate NY and I miss Weggie's so much. I would just kill for some rice cream (ricemilk ice cream)

Haha well I can trade you places... I would rather be in the Midwest with hyvee even though I do love wegmans!

I am eating humble pie......as in, for the first few weeks of this pregnancy I was upholding all my healthy meals.  Lots of greens, very low sugar, etc.  I was feeling pretty proud of myself.  And then this past week, the cravings have struck!  And they are all for things like fast food or something I normally would never crave and is highly processed.  Last night I ate Taco Bell (have not had this since high school, pretty sure!).  Today it was macaroni salad and cheese puffs!  The thing is, normally eating this stuff would make me feel like CRAP-which is why I've gotten so much better at my diet as of late-ability to recognize that these things never make me feel good.  But right now, Taco Bell was AMAZING.  Macaroni salad mixed with cheese puffs was so satsiflying.  And my bloat, etc is not as bad!  And the cravings are all one time only.  I would not want another Taco Bell binge today.  Wonder what tomorrow will bring?  smile.gif

Isn't it funny?

I remember last pregnancy I was at the butcher and I saw this magnificent red meat in the case and all I knew was that I *must* have it. It was beef liver! I've never even had liver in my life and the thought of it even now makes me want to throw up like any ones business...but all of a sudden there I was leaving the butcher with this liver and was almost giddy on the way home. I couldn't wait to cook and eat it. LOL

I ate about 1/2 of one before normalicy was regained...and never ever will touch it again. BUT - it was just such a humbling experience that pregnancy cravings are real and must be for a reason.

So even though I've never had the cliche pickles and ice cream cravings, if a woman says thats what she craved I don't blow it off like "Yeah, right" like I use to prior to having kids.

I haven't eaten rice in over a year (we're Paleo), yet I've been craving white rice with spinach, butter and salt. DH went out last night to buy butter and rice. It was amazing!

Okay, huge craving given into! I have been a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 16 years. I have consumed NO animal protein in that time, and have not really wanted to, being honest. I have had some intense cravings for fish the past few weeks, when not feeling like I'm going to vomit winky.gif All the Friday evening fish fry signs have triggered a strong desire for fish! Last night, I gave in and ate baked fish and OMG it was SO good! Like phenomenal. I thought after all this time I would have more ambivalent feelings about the whole thing but I feel strangely okay with it. I don't expect to add in anything else (definitely no beef, chicken or pork - I am too fond of farm animals and have my own named, yes each of them has a name and unique personality, sweet flock of chickens) but I may have some seafood every now and then. So yes, Kamiro, like your story, not what I was expecting at all! I am willing to roll with it and hold all judgment toward other pregnant mamas as well smile.gif I truly do feel like the baby made me eat it!

You vegetarian/paleo/ESPECIALLY vegans are so much stronger than I am... Haha I need meat and carbs, when I can actually eat them!
