Aidenn: I was thinking about school district, as freckledmama mentioned. They should provide that service w/o charge. One of my friends who did it w her kid is in Daytona Beacj.

thefreckledmama - I'll have to consider homeschooling moving forward.  I think I'll need the break from my oldest DD just for a bit when the baby is born, so I think I'll leave her enrolled in pre-K, but based on the metrics they use to judge kindergarten readiness in our county, it looks like DD already meets or exceeds all but a few, so, what a relief I only have to worry about Jeni right now!  I'm interested to know more about the plans to do part time LC work.  In our local area, I feel my best option for working as an LC (even part time) is to partner with the physician groups and work like one day a week in a few different physician offices.  I know that I can count on the in-laws to do some babysitting for me (maybe 1-2 days a week), but watching 3 kids is kind of pushing their limits (they're in their 70s).  I know a few other homeschooling families but the network here is not very strong unless it's like, "hey, we're doing a field trip to XYZ, want to tag along?"

cmu204 - Thanks for the advice about the speech therapy.  I've been looking into it and waiting for some return calls.  I haven't really gotten an answer from the school district, as they seem confused as to why I am calling when she's only 2 (and not gearing to enter school), but our local Easter Seals group's website seems promising, even if no one is calling me back.  I persevere, but in the mean time, while Jeni's not working sentences still, she's picked up two new words this week, so it's giving me hope that she's just taking her time and not actually delayed.

I'm going to the pregnancy center on Friday for my free ultrasound.  It's frivolous and not strictly medically necessary, but I am looking for the big sigh of relief that I just have one baby and a big uterus.  Still not much weight gain (like 5 lbs and I'll be 13 weeks tomorrow) so I am hoping to remain under 200 lbs this pregnancy (I am 183 now).  Not much morning sickness unless I completely forget to eat.  Does anyone else forget to eat?  Normally eating is my favorite pastttime, so when I look at the clock and see it's 3 pm and that's why I am famished is sort of a ridiculous notion!

I have to brag. I wrote a meal plan for 2 weeks, a grocery list, stuck to a budget, and did not get one frozen food item! I'm so feeling like myself again for the most part. Still a tiny bit of evening queasiness plus this dang head cold is kicking my butt. I ate a huge salad with turkey, avacado, cucumber, and almonds for lunch and then ate the other half of the cucumber and avacado with some salt. Yay for no more frozen nastiness going in my mouth!

Mamamash; I can't tell you how jealous I am right now! I'm 14 and a half weeks and as sick as ever!

aidenn: you might want to look at resources at your local university for speech therapy. at my university we have an education clinic where ph.d and masters students see clients/ people in the community for a significantly reduced cost (i.e., we give $2000 psychoeducational assessments for $100 and do yearly counseling for $50 (for 9 months of weekly services).perhaps there is something like this available near you.

Nettlesoup- I was fully expecting to be sick until 15 weeks again like I was with my dd. So the fact that it has subsided, other than the random mild queasiness, actually makes me somewhat nervous. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to be functioning again. I just want to hear the heartbeat along with the lack of ms before maybe I'll feel less nervous.

That's understandable! But I don't think you'll need to worry. I was feeling much better at this point too with my last pregnancy.

Mama, I have TMJ too and it always gets worse when I have sinus problems, and vice versa. I started seeing a naturopath/chiro who gave me some Chinese herbs specifically made for sinus problems. Honestly ever since I took them, my problems have decreased tremendously. I rarely get the sinus/TMJ related headaches & pressure! If you have someone in your area, I would recommend asking about it.

nettlesoup, have I already asked you what part of Scotland you are in? My grandparents have a place in Fortrose (just outside Inverness). We were just there this past summer & spent a little time in Edinburgh as well. :)

I'm just outside Edinburgh, in Penicuik. Did you enjoy your time in Edinburgh? It's a lovely city. Pity about the awful summer weather we had last year! I've only been to the Inverness area once, but it's lovely up there.

Absolutely! It is a gorgeous city so rich in history. It was my second time visiting the area, first time with my husband. It did rain (a lot) but that didn't stop us from going out & taking in the city. I did love the highlands, we went as far north as Golspie, to see the Dunrobin Castle, but spent most of our time in & around the Black Isle. I'm sure you know all about the good restaurants in the area, but we fell in love with a pizza place called La Favorita down on Leith Walk. It was AMAZING, very authentic Italian, and they have great gelato!

The highlands are amazing. I have to admit I haven't been to the Black Isle though, but I'd like to. I've never been to La Favorita, but I have heard of it. If I wasn't gluten intolerant I'd so go!

"The octopus shirt is officially on hiatus."

An email I sent to my fiance this afternoon. I'm not looking pregnant yet, but my torso is thicker and my waist has gone. This shirt which is one of my favourites has been riding up all day and driving me nuts. First pregnancy wardrobe casualty.

Also my fiance is highly amused that it's more awkward to hug me because I'm "less squishy".

I highly recommend it, if you ever get the chance! Then again the whole country is beautiful. :) I am pretty sure they have a gluten-free crust there! It was very popular with locals taking out, too.

As soon as I learn to drive, I'll go to all of these places!

I'm 14 weeks today and overall feeling better on the ms front. Still just random queasiness. But, my moods have been SO bad this week. I have no patience for my almost 20 month old dd. She seems to sense this and has been strangely clingy this week. I have a terrible head cold that is probably contributing to the bad moods. My dh has zero sympathy or understanding of how hormones truly do affect moods (this has been an ongoing battle with him as I also have terrible Pms symptoms :/) and I'm just feeling fed up with his lack of caring. I need an hour in a dark quiet room alone. Which is not possible since dd only wants me. She really is a sweetheart, don't get me wrong smile.gif I just need a breather

Hang in there, mamamash!

aidenn, any news yet from the ultrasound?

I got my results from the genetic screening yesterday and they were very encouraging, i.e. minimal risk of Down's and trisomy 18.

This morning feeling blah, I'm ready for this first trimester queasiness to be over. It's generally better than a few weeks ago. I definitely have my energy back, just not my appetite.

DH is still pretending nothing's different and since I probably won't show till later we may just have to kick it into high gear in the last couple of months. Discussions such as names, what language we'll be speaking with the baby, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, maternity/paternity leave etc. are all being ignored for now...

MamaMash - I totally get what you're saying about your DD.  I am typing this with my younger DD trying to cuddle and basically throw herself onto my lap.  Not fighting MS on top of it, but I'm at the tail end of this cold and my facial mucus is bright yellow, which is a new color for me.  I am hoping this color means "the end"!

Dakipode - You are so sweet to think of me!  After a sort of keystone cop morning where I goty no warning that I couldn't bring my kids, I ran them to my MIL (30 minutes drive, one way), only to be told at the pregnancy center that I was ineligible because I had already had prenatal care.  After looking rather forlorn, they agreed to do an u/s for me as "training" which ended up being mutually beneficial, since most of the moms getting u/s there are of the jellybean photo variety, whereas mine looks like a real baby.  So they took a bunch of extra photos for their marketing brochure.  In the end, everyone was happy!  Baby looks beautiful and was flipping and wiggling all around.  No word on gender, but the heart rate would suggest boy.  Does the heart rate stuff actually work?

I keep seeing different things about heart rate: is it supposed to be that faster equals girl?
Yes cmu- supposedly faster=girl. But Aidenn, my dd's heart rate was in the boy range and she is most definitely a girl smile.gif

Aidenn, I'm glad you still managed to get a scan, sounds like it all went very well in the end.
