Baby Registry?

I have been asked by friends where I am registered. I haven't done one!
In fact, I have never done one. Even though this is baby #4, I have never been asked before, nor have I had anything but a very small baby shower.

I feel like a total newb! LOL
Where do I start. How does one go about a registry?

We went to Target and the lady at the help desk walked us right through it! She set everything up and then she gave us a scanner gun and we went to the baby section and looked at things. We would scan what we liked/wanted/thought would be useful. It was super fun!

we're doing it through babyli.st, that way we can pull from lots of different places. It's a pretty neat website in and of itself

I'm not doing one, no one even threw me a baby shower or looked at my registry for #1 and this is my second baby, lol

No registry here either. I am simplifying and would rather not have lots of stuff. Plus, nobody likes the answer, "You can contribute to my cloth diaper fund." If only they knew how much fun buying cloth diapers was!

We did a combo of babyearth.com and target last time and it worked well (my Midwestern family could handle target, not the green baby stuff), but we didn't register for much.

This time all I want is a double bob stroller (well, that, and cash so we can extend my maternity leave...), but I haven't figured out how to tactfully ask everyone to give us money to buy it. wink1.gif

We have kinda run out of stuff for our baby registry, so I've started adding stuff for Chris and I. A new tent, Chris wants new power tools so he can make the baby toys.
Two of my baby showers are in Ontario, and we live in BC (think Washington and New York State), my sister and mother in law are gently reminding people that we have to take it on the plane back with us. The stroller we want is quite expensive as well, so I put in the description "great for a group gift!"

My girlfriend threw me a wonderful baby shower with my first baby but I've said no since then as I pretty much have everything I need now. Registering for a babyshower is super easy. Just go to the store if your choice, tell them that you want to register and they will hook you up. At babies r us, they give you some coupons, a little gift and some samples just for registering there.

Looks like there's lots of options for universal baby registries http://www.bing.com/search?q=universal+baby+registry&go=&qs=n&form=QBLH&pq=universal+baby+registry&sc=2-21&sp=-1&sk=

I suppose I would do that if I had anyone throwing me a shower. My church might be, but I don't know them that well yet, so yeah... we'll see, but I'm guessing they'll just give some little things. If I can't use any of those things, I suppose I'll just sell them on craigslist. It's the thought that counts.

We only did a registry with our first. I think it was at babies r us. If I remember right, no one bought anything off of it anyway! wink1.gif it is super easy to do though and my husband had great fun with the scanner gun! Lol

My partner and I (due for our first baby soon!) are pretty minimalistic, we live in a small apartment, and from the beginning of the pregnancy neither of us was very keen on getting a bunch of "stuff" for Baby.  Still, I figured we'd want SOME things...

After checking out several way-too-long lists of so-called baby essentials, I finally found one here that was more my speed (and length!): http://mamanatural.com/downloads/

I started with that, whittled it down, then added a few items of my own.  Since we have a pretty earthy approach to parenting (elimination communications & cloth diapers in the meantime, organic fabrics for Baby, co-sleeping, baby carrying, etc.) — and because I'm choosy! — most of the things we want aren't available at just one store.  So I created a registry on www.babyli.st, which allows me to list things from as many websites as necessary.  It's super easy to use.  Plus, I like that the website is a mommy-operated small business!

In the end, I loved doing all of the research into the baby "stuff" and creating the registry...

We are very minimal as well and I love, love, love this baby list!  I actually don't find we need all that's listed but it's pretty well done still!

For those of us who are planning to cloth diaper, Target now sells Charlie Banana diapers. They also sell Mobys. So a couple of things we could put on a registry. I like the idea of the babyli.st! We have grandparents who may want to get us stuff and the only things we need are a car seat and more cloth diapers. I'm planning to skip an infant seat all together this time and go right to the Diono Radian. It's such a great seat, although a bit spendy.
