My kids are selectively vaccinated. I went into my daughter's well visit on Tuesday wanting to start the next series of shots. The Nurse Practitioner saw us, and she informed me that she still needed another DTaP. I said, "are you sure?" several times. She said that she was still due for one. I said ok, because I believed that she had actually read her record. Turns out, she hadn't looked carefully. They handed me a physical form on the way out with all of them listed, and there were 5 on there. I was irritated.
The woman called me this afternoon to tell me the schedule that I must follow if I want to stay with their practice. I got really upset, because she seemed more flexible in the actual visit. I just switched to this practice because I was told they are somewhat flexible. I mentioned the error she made and instead of apologizing, she changed the subject and continued her condescending tone. When she wouldn't address the mistake, I threw out the word "malpractice" to get her attention. She promptly hung up on me after I asked for her superior.
Afterwards I spoke with the office manager who defended her. They apparently record all of their calls and he told me that he had listened to the phone call and that I was unreasonable. And then he told me I wasn't welcome in their practice.
The whole thing was upsetting. The error and also being treated that way. Why is it so hard to find someone a little bit flexible, that won't treat me like crap, and that is actually a decent doctor?
