Postpartum weight loss?

Lets talk about some weight loss...shall we greensad.gif ??

I gained almost 50lbs during my pregnancy. I know!!! much more than I wanted to shy.gif

blame it on my DH and Mom....they both made sure all my cravings eat.gif were well satisfied and assured me that I will lose all that fat once the baby is delivered !   blahblah.gif

my LO has been 14 weeks now and I have been EBF him on demand almost every hour or so. Still... all I could manage to lose post delivery was a meagre 15 lbs ONLY duh.gif (of which my LO's birth weight was 10lbs!). "They" say that the weight will melt right off if you breastfeed. Clearly, they have not encountered my unique case, given that I still have a healthy 35 pounds to lose.

I am still wearing yoga pants as a default! I look 4-5 months pregnant when wearing dresses...even when sucking it in. my arms currently appear to be double their pre-pregnancy size when I make the mistake of comparing pictures of myself. pre-pregnancy shirts are now crop tops, thanks to the milk producers! Speaking of the milk producers, my breasts are exponentially larger, and heavy all the time!

Since breastfeeding clearly doesn't take off any of my weight (so unfair!!!!)...my last resort is...going to the gym and burning those calories bawling.gif !!!
Any of you mamas had any luck losing weight due to breastfeeding?

No.  It never comes off until I my babies eat solids and I reduce breastfeeding some, when I'm ebf my appetite is huge.  I also need to exercise, that definitely helps.  I'm waiting for the weather to improve to start walking every day.

Well, I only gained 14 or 15, so I'm like 2 lbs under my pp weight. I have health problems that help such the weight off at times so I have to try to keep my weight up. I was happy I had a great appetite for a while, then it went away and I have to remind myself to eat. Except whenever I crawl in bed for the night or just sit down to nurse. Then I'm starving. Lol

Hubby keeps saying how great it would be to get pregnant again, okay, but it's your turn! I don't think it would be wise. My Dr said two to three years would be best on my body. And what's best on my body is best on the baby's body.

Not weight, but I sure have a roll I could tone up.... :{

I know, I was told the same thing about the weight "just falling off" if you breastfeed. Not so!!! I gained about 30-35 lbs and it is coming off, but VERY slowly. I am now between 10-15 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. I am back to work and trying to squeeze into work-appropriate attire, which is the most depressing thing ever. Not to mention my boobs have practically doubled in size (okay, that may be an exaggeration) so none of my shirts fit me, not to mention my pants. I wish I could just wear yoga pants all day now, which was what I did while I was still on maternity leave. It sucks!!! :( Hang in there...you're not alone!

This pregnancy was the smallest I have ever been.  I gained about 35 lbs and I have 5 lbs to lose to get to my pre-pregnancy weight.  I am working out though, trying hard to get toned up.  I am trying to come to terms with my belly, while not big, being kind of saggy for lack of a better term.

My other two pregnancies were a different story.  I gained 60 lbs with my first and 45 lbs with my second.  I was EBF and the pounds did start to melt off but not until around the 6 month mark.  Then, I lost more weight than I had originally weighed pre-pregnancy.  For me I think that is when everything kind of levels out.  I stop feeling like I need to inhale food, hormones level out, and my metabolism revs up.  Don't lose hope maybe it will just take a little longer.

I'm sitting in bed burping Ana last night. Hubby pats my roll and says, You SURE you're not pregnant? :/ Thanks, Dear. I said, Well I recently WAS pregnant.

Before Luthien was born, as a first-time biological mom (our older daughter's adopted), I had this naive idea that because I'm active, everything would snap back in shape--b'toing! Boy, was I ever wrong. I'm back to the weight I was pre-pregnancy, but because I have Ms. Constant Nurser, I haven't been as active as I used to be, so I'm sure that I've lost muscle mass, and yup, I still have a little abdominal roll. My husband is sweet and reassuring, but it really bothers ME. Most of my pants fit OK, but the shirts...I envision myself wearing the same large-size action nursing shirts for the next couple of years. Sigh.

I gained over 60 and have only lost about 20-25 so far.  Plus I still needed 10# to lose to get down to my REAL pp weight.  It's just going so slowly this time around.

This is #4 for me.  I've gained 60+ with each pregnancy over the last 6 years.  I have lost almost the entire amount within 1 year.  don't expect a miracle especially if you gained a lot like I did.

I'm also older, 40, so my metabolism must be slow because on weeks where I'm doing really well eating, I'm not losing anything. Sigh.  I need to exercise for sure.

I don't usually gain much during pregnancy and return to my pre-pregnancy weight (or within a few pounds) after birth. It's with breastfeeding that I gain weight. I'm usually ravenously hungry!  Even if I don't eat much more than usual, I still put on at least a few pounds during the early months of breastfeeding.  I used to stress about it, but what I've discovered is, when my period returns (anywhere between 13 and 22 months after birth), within a month or so the weight all starts to melt off without any effort on my part.  So, I just have to be patient.  I just hope that my 41+ year old postpartum body will still respond the way it did in its 20's and 30's....

(Disclaimer: lest my post imply that I am particularly skinny, I'm not!  I just go from postparum-nursing-mum-plump to back to average.)

I'm down to 99.5 lbs... Haven't been here in a while. She's a good eater, my appetite is so so and I'm having a Crohn's flare up. greensad.gif

I was 160, dropped to 150 dieting/exercising right before becoming pregnant (like the month before), and am sitting at 160 again after reaching 185. I lost most of that in the first month, water weight, his weight, etc. I've been stagnant since. I have such an appetite breastfeeding that I don't think the rest will come off unless I quit BFing and really hit the gym. I want to get down to 130 but I think that's a pipe dream ;P

Hehe kparker! I'm bouncing down to 98 some days. My Dr wasn't impressed esp since the visit I had the month before I got pregnant I was 120, then the first pregnant visit (12 weeks and a bad case of the flu) I was 107, I lost 5 more after that.

So he told me to take my pills again (Grrr) and get 4000 calories a day. And I need to stay gluten and sugar free, hurts my stomach, Crohn's and eczema. I typically get about 1500 cal....
