Hi there,
My DS will be five years old next month. He PTed late. He was 3y10m by the time he got the hang of it. Even after that point, he'd have the occasional wet pants when he didn't make it to the toilet in time, perhaps once every two weeks or so.
He got better with bladder control but over the past six months we've been dealing with soiling accidents maybe twice a month. There doesn't seem to be anything medical going on that we can see. No digestive issues, no GI bugs or diarrhea. He isn't holding it in and having it leak out or anything. The usual scenario is that he'll be so intently playing that he "forgets" and has an accident.
We've talked to him about it. He knows he has to go. He said, yes, he can tell when he needs to, but he's just too busy playing. We've even done the reminder thing of asking him while he's playing if he needs to go and sometimes that's successful, but other times, not so much.
Last month he hid a pair of soiled underwear in his drawer. He knows it bothers us.
Oh and he never has any issues at school whatsoever the teachers said.
Any advice? This is getting frustrating. Today was particularly bad, twice in one day. This after weeks of everything going fine.
