Mama Cloth

I know it's early to be thinking about this, but since I've had so many miscarriages, I wanted to buy it early so that I could use it for a miscarriage as well. Does anyone here use cloth pads postpartum and if so, what do you use? I love my menstrual cup and don't have any plans to switch to cloth for most menstrual periods, but for a miscarriage or postpartum bleeding, I'd like to use cloth pads. What are the best affordable options that work? Do the non-waterproof kinds work for the heavy bleeding postpartum or miscarriage can bring? I'm pretty sure I want wings. Can anyone tell me the advantages an envelope style vs a base + insert pads?

Last time I used a mix of cloth and icky plastic last time, and may do the same this time. Those disposies in the freezer sometimes really help! Anyway, I used regular overnight cloths with wings, and I made sure to get the kind with PUL inside so that it wouldn't leak through. Personally, I hate the kind that you stuff with liners: they always bunch up or shift around and don't always have the PUL or other waterproof liners to prevent soak-through (like Glad-rags). I found it a lot more comfortable to get lots and swap them out frequently instead of getting the heavy-flow pads.

Has anyone tried both PUL and wool backing? I'm wondering if wool would be resistant enough to leaking (though wool backed ones seem so much more expensive). Also, how do you choose different lengths? I've seen on etsy lengths as short as 5in and as long as 11in.

I bought some when I had a miscarriage and ended up loving them and used them for my monthlies as well (I mostly use tampons but I would use them in combination on my heavy day just to be safe). I just bought Charlie Banana brand because it was on sale. They are the only brand I'm experienced with so I don't know how they compare, but they have wings that snap underneath which I like and a PUL backing. I'm not sure how much length matters, but I think a little more length is good at night if you move around a lot... during the day it probably doesn't matter as much.

I use cloth pads for regular menstrual flow - no experience with miscarriage or PP flow, though I definitely plan to get some more for PP myself. My favorite makers are on Etsy - County Cloth Creations and Yurtcraft. I think they both make a wide variety of absorbencies and backings. Most of my pads are fleece-backed, no PUL, which is sufficient for my normal flow, but I would definitely get some with PUL inside for PP.

I use cloth pads, and I used them after DS was born. I bought some from a WAHM--they weren't any particular brand--and then I made some of my own. I found that the waterproof ones could get a funky smell kind of like regular plastic pads, I guess because of the plastic. My favorites were some kind of heavy, fleece-backed ones. The fleece was water-repellent enough to keep messes away as long as I changed them with reasonable frequency, but they didn't have the ick smell of the PUL-backed ones.

I use depends for the first two days PP and then I switch to mama cloth. I have Luna pads and some WAHM made ones (way more comfortable than the Luna's). I bough them all ~8 years ago with my first to use PP and I've given some away because I got a kit way to big for my needs. I also use a couple as back up for my cup on the heavy days once PPAF returns. I much prefer a cup but I'm glad for mama cloth too. I can't stand the hot plastic feeling of sposies.

I used PP pads with my last that had the PUL lining inside and they worked fabulous! I loved them. I few of them I soaked in a strong herbal comfrey tea and froze over a bowl for right after birth and those felt absolutely divine!!I definitely plan on doing this again.
