does this level of interest seem pretty typical for his age or should I be pursuing more games for him? We seem to both get frustrated with each other when I come up with some cool game that my 2 year old seems thrilled about and will spend lots of time playing eve though its completely over her head but my 4 year old will get bored quickly. Just a different type of learner or not there yet??- MrsBone

Hey there. My son is 4, very smart and we are sort of homeschooling. Guess at this point I'd call it unschooling. There are many things he is interested in, cars, fixing things and taking things a part, he does really well with learning videos and learning apps, computer games, and loves to be read to, but seems I his own little world/no attention spam or follow through when I try and get him to sit down and write a few letters or play a reading game. I know many of you probably feel I'm over analyzing his learning and ability, but I'm new to this. He knows how to write his name, and he's showing interest in reading... Asking me how to spell this word or that or asking me what's signs say and things like that. He seems to be a very abstract learner, which is confusing to me!!
