Maternity clothes?

Hi mommas! I'm wondering when any of you 2+ baby momma's will start wearing maternity clothes? I'm just 8 weeks with my 2nd and all of my pants feel so tight already! At my appointment with our MW last week she checked my uterus and said it was for sure growing so she's not surprised that my clothes were tighter. I just am not sure about jumping into maternity pants at 8 weeks!! I know that 2nd time around is different and everything grows faster. Guess I'm just looking for a little mommy validation! smile.gif

Well I am only 5 weeks in, but I am also on baby #5. No maternity wear for me yet, thank goodness, but I have started having to wear jeans unbuttoned... I'm sure it's not too far off for me..

I'm wondering this too, I'm on baby four... So I'm sure I'll be bringing out the maternity clothes soon. In fact I've already dug them out and sorted them. Maternity clothes and BIG maternity clothes. Lol. I can't remember when I started wearing them last time. I know I quickly had to start wearing my pants unbuttoned, cause I couldn't stand tightness on my waist.

I'm 5 weeks... And got hubby to dig out the maternity bags yesterday. I haven't gone through them, but I am feeling like I am going to need them sooner than later. It is baby #2, and I feel bloated already. It's pants that bother me... Wore a Bellaband until about 25 weeks last time, but I think that may be wishful thinking this time!!

I dropped a pants size this summer, and at 5 weeks I just started wearing my bigger pants.  That should last a bit, but I did haul up the maternity box for when I need it.  I really don't want to wear the band pants until we are telling people (that's how I knew my cousin was pregnant before she told me wink1.gif).

I've lost a  LOT of weight since DS was born.    i had really bad SPD with him and this caused me to be virtually sedentary.  So I am feeling very traumatized about moving back into maternity clothes or even the clothes that my bigger body used to wear.  My pants were really tight last week before I knew I was pregnant.  I felt terrible.  I'm less bloated this week so it's better but I know that I will segue into maternity clothes around the end of the first trimester.

I am weird, but I like wearing maternity clothes early because it makes me feel pregnant and not just fat.  Fat AND pregnant, thank you very much!  I have been wearing yoga pants a lot, though I have a job interview next week (for a long term sub job; I'm a teacher) and I have to dig out my fattest dress pants for that :(   This is #3 and I have no maternity clothes at all.  I gave everything away years ago.  Guess it's time to go shopping!

I hear ya :/ I've lost 40 pounds in the past year and the idea of gaining (probably) all of that back is kind of upsetting to me... even though I know it's all completely worth it. My "skinny jeans" that I was sooo excited to get in to are already uncomfortably tight and I need to wear a bellaband in order to get by with them. It's hard to be so excited to be pregnant and yet completely dreading that part of it.

I'm a little over 6 weeks with #2 here and feel pretty bloated. Much more so than I recall with my DD. I picked up some cute maternity jeans and chinos on sale from Gap maternity that don't quite look like maternity pants (just a thick stretchy band at the waist). I wore a pair yesterday and they were SO comfy. I don't need them but I liked them. I suspect I'll need them by 8-10 weeks though, for sure! And Sleepymama I too love maternity clothes, once I have even a little belly. I agree, I like feeling pregnant rather than just bigger. I'm not too worried about weight gain. I gained about 40 pounds with DD and lost it all pretty quickly with little effort. And I loved being all big and round. I felt really sexy and goddess-like. Looking forward to that belly.gif

I wear Preggo friendly clothes basically all the time wink1.gif leggings and flowy skirts so I haven't really noticed. But I'm a larger lady anyway.

My favorite pants for the past four years are a pair of my maternity pants from last time.  :)  Other than that, we'll see... I'm afraid I'll give the secret away if I start wearing other ones!  But ugh, I'm going to have to go buy more anyway, all my maternity jeans have holes in the knees.

Of course, this is my first time being pregnant much in the summer.  (My boys were born in January and February.)  I guess maybe I'd better look at maternity shorts instead.  :)

I just ordered a few maternity dresses and leggings and I'm pretty excited to start wearing them, but I think that would give things away too early! My baggy yoga pants that I wear around the house are obviously still fine (they are a size or two large as I bought them before I lost the last 15 lbs or so), and my non-stretchy high-rise skirts are still okay but the tight waistband is pretty uncomfortable with all the lovely bloating and nausea.

I'm wondering how useful the maternity/nursing combos are? The dresses I bought are maternity only and not stretchy enough to pull down over my boobs, so they won't work after baby arrives. However they are cheaper and more attractive than any of the nursing dresses I found.

Jonesies I found most nursing clothing way too pricey, especially the dresses, and I also didn't love the styles. I found a few nursing tops at garage sales and consignment shops that I liked when I knew we'd be out. I ended up buying a bunch of nursing tank tops and camis that I wore under zippered hoodies, dresses and cardigan style sweaters/tops  It was cheaper and more comfortable for me. Also, as my DD was an October babe, I liked the extra layers that assured my belly stayed covered and warm during nursing. I imagine it would be different in the summer. That worked for me through almost 3 years of nursing.

Unuselyriver My belly looks quite similar. I'm also a little over 6 weeks with #2 and my sister won't stop harassing me about the possibility of twins. My first appointment and scan is April 9.

I find that Camis were awesome to wear under shirts.that way you pull up the shirt, pull down the cami, and voila- I have one momzelle nursing shirt. It was very expensive and it looks funny, stretches too much when I wear it.

I'm five weeks with number three and I wore maternity pants YESTERDAY!  It's ridiculous!!  I'm only five feet tall and a petite size ten so there's just nowhere to go but out!  I'm so bloated, it's insane.  I wore maternity pants with my first at ten weeks, maybe eight or nine with my second.  I'm about the same weight now that I was before my second, maybe ten or fifteen pounds heavier than my first (which was nine years ago).  I coughed earlier and had those breath-stealing round ligament pains.  It's just crazy how quickly my body seems to be remembering.  My hips feel like they're letting go, everything seems loose already.  Crazytown, I tell ya!
