My Dad just booked his flight out to visit us in May, so he can do the heavy work and we can get the nursery ready. I finally decided to do it all to go with the fabric I got for Iggy's quilt.

Aw, that's exciting Leigh!

Feeling lots more little wiggles down there.  I told DS that soon he'd be able to feel them too and his eyes got all wide and he put his hand on my belly...he's going to be such a good big brother.  happytears.gif

I can't believe we're bascially halfway there.  Yikes!  I have lots of lists to make.  :)  I've got some cloth diapers trickling in from friends, that's been exciting.  I sold a lot of my old ones since DH didn't seem like he was going to budge on a second one...although my best ones went to a friend, so they'll be coming back to me.

Going to try to fit in some ice skating with DS this weekend since winter is holding out and a friend gave him some hand-me-down hockey skates.  He didn't like the ice so much when we did it a year ago, but he has decided he wants to try again!

Leigh-  What all are you making for the nursery?  What kind of fabric are you using (pattern)?

GISDiva-  I wanted to go ice skating all winter and for some reason we never got around to it...  Now our weather has been in the 60s, so I hadn't thought of it.  Our rink is indoors though, maybe I should make another push for it!

DS asked me to move his toddler bed into the closet yesterday.  We have been co-sleeping, so this was pretty big!  We rearranged our bedroom and cleaned out the closet and put his little bed in there.  He picked out some special animals/gnomes to sleep with him, lined up books to look at, and got the quilt his Auntie made.  He slept all night in there and says he loves it!  It is pretty nice to have the whole bed to ourselves again!  Although I did wake up a couple of times and wonder if he was warm enough (he tends to strip in his sleep, and kick all of the blankets off).  I guess we'll see if it lasts.

Leigh--quilting, wow! I am trying to come up with some simple projects I can do with my very limited sewing skills... I'm thinking cloth wipes?

This weekend I'm visiting a nearby birh center in DC that I'd initially written off for a few reasons, but I'm now hearing from a lot of people it's a great place. Free doula and prenatal yoga is apparently included for all clients! We want to change because I didn't know what I was doing when this whole process began and just started going to a nearby clinic a lot of women in my neighborhood used; turns out the hospital the clinic uses is very difficult to have a natural birth at so I'm eager to find an alternative!

So after last week of worrying and finally getting my appointment yesterday, I got two nice distinct thumps while taking a rare nap with my little man today. :D :D  This week is just getting better and better.

I got to go to a consignment sale tonight and scored pretty big for my "big kids".  Bought nothing for the baby because honestly we don't need much.  I want a special outfit or two and that's really it.  Well and I'd love some kind of organic crib mattress pad, but I dunno if I can find what I want for a price I'm willing to pay. ;)  Debating making my own - it seems like I could quilt up something that would work pretty well for not too much money...  Honestly I'm not feeling rushed because baby wouldn't be using it until November anyway...

Leigh, yay for help from your dad!

GisDiva, I love the excitement from the "big sibs". :)  My girls are getting excited.  Little man has no clue he's about to be ousted as littlest. ;)

Mama505, aww, growing up, cute! :D

greentoubab, good luck figuring out where you want to be!  I'm really happy with the choice I've made, though anxious to get in a hospital tour soon.  Wish I could do a birth center... Sigh...

Oh also, any thoughts on risk of placenta accreta with a VBAC with an anterior placenta?  My prior c-section was in 2008, whether that matters.  I'm hoping they can verify or not at the 20 week ultrasound, but now I have something new and fun to worry about.

Calladona, I've gotten myself worked up about placenta accreta recently. Ugh. I know it's rare, but I do meet most of the risk factors. Any idea about whether a D&C counts as uterine surgery? I think there was scraping involved, which could have created scar tissue. Plus, I've had three D&C's for miscarriages. :-( Calladona, it doesn't exactly list the anterior placenta as a risk factor, only prior uterine surgery. Here are the risk factors I found on the Mayo Clinic web site:

Previous uterine surgery. If you've had a C-section or other uterine surgery, you're at increased risk of placenta accreta. The risk of placenta accreta increases with the number of uterine surgeries.

Placenta position. If your placenta partially or totally covers your cervix (placenta previa) or sits in the lower portion of your uterus, you're at increased risk of placenta accreta.

Maternal age. Placenta accreta is more common in women older than 35.

Previous childbirth. The risk of placenta accreta increases each time you give birth.

Uterine conditions. The risk of placenta accreta is higher if you have abnormalities or scarring in the tissue that lines your uterus (endometrium). Noncancerous uterine growths that bulge into the uterine cavity (submucosal uterine fibroids) also increase the risk.

Calladonna - so the little one is deciding to be mischievous already?mischievous.gif Lol! Glad you are so reassured and everything is fine.

Mama505 - that is great about DS. It's so fun watching them make these little milestones on their own.

I think I felt my first BH today. IT kind of hurt! I had them with my DDs but not usually until later. Do they occur earlier in subsequent pregnancies? I'm not worried, it was just one good one and haven't felt once since. DH and I also dtd today and the girls and I went for a walk (I had the BH right after that) so I wonder if those had something to do with it although I have been pretty active this pregnancy.

Thecoffeebean, I don't have experience with this myself BUT, I can tell you my sister also had all the risk factors (38, fourth pregnancy, last birth was c-section, etc.) and she is a go and cleared for HBAC later this month. So you may have the risk factors, but it wouldn't be a total anomaly for you/your placenta to be perfectly fine. I hope you are!

My mom is an experienced labor & delivery nurse/ childbirth educator and she told me it is not unusual to get BH at any time during 2nd and subsequent pregnancies. She said you're actually having them the whole pregnancy, you just don't always feel them. I started having them (well, feeling them) at about 19 weeks. Some have really been strong!

I get BH super early now. Actually my chiro's crazy automatic massage table gave me some a couple of months ago!

Last night I had what felt like a real honest to goodness contraction. It was kind of scary. I was well hydrated and lying down, so I have no idea what it was or why it happened. I lay there for a while and then took a dose of cal/mag. It didn't happen again, so I'm trying not to make too much of it :/

Accreta is really rare (less so bc of so many csections, but...). Definitely not something to fret over.

Calladona, what about your MWs seeing you at home? At least here, insurance issues only affect the birth center, not home births. I'm planning my 4th HBAC, so take that for what it's worth. smile.gif

Second night in a row up till 4am. Ugh! Last night was insomnia and vomiting thanks to taking zinc with my nighttime supps. greensad.gif Tonight, it was a sweet and happy 2yo who thought bedtime was only naptime. Eek! And we have commitments tomorrow (today!) so I'm going to be awfully tired. :/

Lots more baby thumps! Getting them when leaning a bit forward in bed onto my belly. First time to get the repetitive kicks in the same spot. Crazy!!

I am loving the baby thumps. Unmistakable, but not ouchy like they are at the end.

My placenta is at the back, not the front, so my midwife said i am feeling baby low because that is where babies like to hang out until the 30s. Nice to know.

I have two charm packs (pre cut swuares) of Oliver + S for Moda Cape Ann (this http://www.etsy.com/listing/81327622/cape-ann-moda-charm-pack-5-inch-quilt) and am thinking of doing  a zig zag or rows of strips. I have some flannel with little doodle fairies for the back. Because some of the fabrics have little clothes on them, thinking of doing a clothes line with little paper clothes over the crib wall. Still need to figure out curtians, change pad, embelishing my Ikea crib sheets and if I also want to do some bunting or washi tape cross stitch on the wall. This is my third kid, but first nursery and I want to have fun.

I forgot to mention. This week Monkey had what must have been an ear infection, complete with fever and then a super cranky day yesterday.

Bee has a nasty cold with fever, eye buggers, trying to cough something up and only sleeping on my pillow with me. Both were in my bed last night.

And of course they have infected me.

So I do have the one prior c-section.  But I know to have an increased risk, the placenta would have to overlay the scar...  So being this is my first anterior placenta after the c-section, of course I have to come up with something new to worry about. :p

crunchymama, in my experience, the BHs get earlier and more painful each time.  I had tons with my first, but they didn't really kick in until after 20 weeks.  With my second, they started at 14 weeks and I had some crampy stuff in the week before the birth.  With my third, the early cramping pretty much went straight into BHs at around 12 weeks.  The prodromal labor started at around 33 weeks and continued off and on until birth.  This time around, y BHs again started at around 12 weeks, but this time, they are crampy from the start.  Fun.

HeatherB, no, no homebirths here in MD.  There pretty much aren't any midwives willing to do HBACs around here anymore.  The midwives at the birth center only do birth center and hospital births.  Plus, MY insurance won't cover a homebirth...  Fun, isn't it?  Aggh, sorry about the lack of sleep :(  Yay for movement! :D

Leigh, :)  Baby thumps. :)  Aww, fun, doing the nursery. :)  I dunno if I'm going to do anything this time or not.  We'll see what mood strikes me when I know gender... :p  Aggh, feel better soon!!

I've been sick for the last two days.  Not sure what it was.  No energy, exhausted, headachey, no appetite, nauseous, no temp though.I feel much better today.

Thursday night we accepted their counter offer.  Now to get the financing straightened out.  Very exciting!!  Going to start packing as soon as we go to the bank and get a pre-approval.energy.gif

Lots of movement pretty much all day long.  20 weeks yesterday.  Though I've lost a little belly because of being sick.

Cathy-  Hooray!  Great news all around!  Oh, except for the sicky part.  But movement and house- WooHoo!

Leigh-  Those charm packs are really cute!  I've never seen that before.  I really like the rainbow batiks.  Sorry , to hear you and the kids aren't feeling well.

Heather-  Do you usually get insomnia?  I usually do, but so far not to badly this go around.

There really isn't anything to do about/for the placenta accreta, is there?  Can they tell at the 20 week ultra sound?  I was under the impression it was just to check that my placenta wasn't over the scar... but can they actually see if it is accreta(inized)?

Take care of yourselves everyone, feel better!

Mama: Exciting milestone for your DS! We have coslept since birth and DD moved into a toddler bed in our room around 2ish..maybe just after. She then wanted to move into her own room so we bought her a new "big kid" bed and set up her room and she's been back in our bed every night since lol I don't mind though - we all sleep better together anyway.

Calladona, baby was just waiting for you to relax so he or she can move around now and kick you ;)

CrunchyMama, I had a couple of BH while my DD was in the hospital..one was quite intense. I've heard they can start very early in subsequent pregnancies and are not harmful in any way. I haven't had any since but I feel reassured that even if I do it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Don't forget to stay hydrated.

Oh no, Leigh, hopefully "The Sickness" moves through your house quickly! Brutal viruses going around this year...take care.

Congrats, Cathy! When will you move? There seems to be a few of us moving during our pregnancies....we should have one big housewarming party ;)

Afm: Pretty lazy day here for me but I should be cleaning up for listing photos....too tired and not very motivated unfortunately. My DP and DD are out for the afternoon so I should be indulging in a nap!

Thanks for the reassurance anyone. I wasn't real worried but it's good to hear other's stories. I had a small one yesterday but other than that nothing. I am staying well hydrated. I wasn't much the first tri (why do I HATE water until 14 weeks?) but not I am following my midwives rec of 8 full glasses a day. I find it surprisingly hard to cram them all in, and of course I am peeing all the time!

Cathy - that is awesome, congrats!

Carmen - If all goes well the 3rd week in May when DH's semester ends and before summer session starts for him.  He only teaches one class this summer so I will have lots of help unpacking and putting in raised beds for my garden.

I did have one BH the other day after going up and down the stairs about 5 times.  Nothing too much yet, but I know they are coming.  Then there is that super moon in June, last time it was in July when pregnant with DD and they were super bad all night.  I'm not looking forward to that.

What is a super moon? What do BH contx feel like?

We are in the Rockies for the week visiting relatives. I think I'm having trouble with the elevation, 5.4k today and then up to 9k for snowboarding for dh, and snowshowing for me. Am trying to drink lots and lots of water. I got really overheated at H&M while buying some maternity clothes. I was clinging to the counter while DH paid and think I was v close to passing out. Fresh air, water and a nap helped, although I'm still in bed.
