Cathy I am so happy for you! You have to post some pictures when you move in!

I seriously got so much done today. I can't even believe it. I made an awesome St. Paddy's day meal, I cleaned the top floor of the house (which includes my kids room and nightmare craft room/study) and the coop. I'm like a machine.

I then tricked dd3 into going to bed without nursing beforehand.

I am really rocking it today!

FarmerCathy, YAY on the house! :D :D  Boo on being sick. :(

Mama505, I've heard they can sometimes see it on the ultrasound.  Yes, you're really only at increased risk if the placenta is over the scar.  If you DO have it, I believe that c-section is really the only safe option, but I could be wrong.  If they don't see it, but the placenta overlays the scar, I would assume caution is still warranted at delivery (more than usual).

carmen, yup, he/she must've been!  Not much since those first kicks, but now I'm not worrying. :)

CrunchyMama, I go back and forth on love/hate of water...  I definitely don't get my full intake which I'm sure contributes to the BHs...

cardigan, early BHs mostly just feel like a little cramp (if that) and if you feel your uterus, you'll notice it's really hard.  As time goes on, they tend to get more obvious for me and then I start feeling like someone is standing on my chest each time and get a little blood rush/lightness in my head.  It's kinda hard to describe, but I *know* when I'm having them.  I call it prodromal/early labor when it starts to actually hurt and I have to breathe through it. Take it easy at altitude - pregnancy is going to make the effect stronger!

Oops, missed the second page!  Banana, that's great! :D :D  Yay for accomplishing things!

Banana, you made up for MY total lack of energy today. Will you come and clean my house?lol.gif

I wasn't much the first tri (why do I HATE water until 14 weeks?) but not I am following my midwives rec of 8 full glasses a day. I find it surprisingly hard to cram them all in, and of course I am peeing all the time!

I have had a weird relationship with water my whole life. I do like it and prefer it to anything else, but so just have a problem drinking enough in general. My family jokingly refers to it as "my drinking problem." Sometimes I can get going and drink 6 or 7 pint glasses in a couple hours. But sometimes I realize I've gone the whole day on less than 16 oz. I have had kidney stones, including during my last pregnancy. Definitely trying to stay hydrated, especially so I can ease these $&@$?!@?! leg cramps (mag and cal aren't totally doing the job).

We are in the Rockies for the week visiting relatives. I think I'm having trouble with the elevation, 5.4k today and then up to 9k for snowboarding for dh, and snowshowing for me. Am trying to drink lots and lots of water. I got really overheated at H&M while buying some maternity clothes. I was clinging to the counter while DH paid and think I was v close to passing out. Fresh air, water and a nap helped, although I'm still in bed.

I agree it's hard to describe Braxton Hicks, but you'll know when you're having one as you get closer to due time, for sure. Currently, I feel kind of a shortness of breath all of a sudden and just have to take a sec to breather before I can go on with whatever I'm doing. A lot of times they occur (for me) when I first get up after sitting or laying for awhile or when I first sit down after standing for awhile.

DO be very careful with the high altitude! I went to high school in Colorado and saw lots of instances where altitude sickness was no joke. Take time to acclimate before you do anything too athletic.

Me too! I had a rare energetic day. I went grocery shopping, had a lady coffee date with a good friend, made my homemade bread, made a Shepherd's Pie for dinner, did the dishes, did laundry, watched an episode Call the Midwife on Netflix, and even voluntarily "handled" my narcissistic brother. During normal time, this would be a very productive Sunday. During pregnancy? I pretty much feel like the champion of everything ever!

Sunday was fairly productive for me too, my friend gave me a massage (heavenly!), I took my son ice skating before they closed down the outdoor rink, I made an apple pie...I even got my son to go through some of his toys to either get rid of or pack away for Snickerdoodle.  That in itself was an accomplishment, he tends to hold onto things.  I have no idea where he got that...whistling.gif

We ended up having a productive Sunday too :) Went downtown for the st. paddy's day festival for a couple of hours, I picked up a new suitcase (wheels finally broke off mine last month), picked out the paint for DD's new room, did some more cleaning and packing.

For me, braxton hicks feel like a sudden, intense tightening of my uterus...like cramping but more intense and closer to what a contraction feels like as opposed to cramping. I had them a lot a few weeks before DD was born. I remember having one when I was out Christmas shopping and it was so intense I had to sit down on a display of auto tires to rest lol I got some weird looks!

It feels like baby has had a growth spurt! My fundus is well above my belly button all of a sudden (hoping this means an end to hernia pain)...and I was laying down at one point and felt such enthusiastic movement from the baby I swear it won't be long before DP and DD can feel it from the outside. 20 weeks this week and my anatomy scan is next week. I can't believe I'm half way there and still pregnant. It still feels unreal to me at times.

I feel the same way! I am really trying to savor each day of this pregnancy- it will be over before I know it!

It's super close and big when you see it.  It was immediate when it came up.  I had to go lay down instead of watching it with everyone else.  Usually if I don't feel it my belly still shows it by being hard and shiny.  You'll know it.

Thanks!  Yes, for sure.

Cathy: congrats!  I bet you are beyond excited.

Calladona:  I wouldn't worry if I were you.  There are so many RARE things that could potentially go wrong, and I think while it's helpful to know what they are to rule them out or pay attention to warning signs, they can sometimes overload the mama with worry/negativity.  Your baby will thrive in your positivity!  I am sending healthy vibes to your uterus, but I doubt you need them.

I have been feeling toning tightenings (BH contrax) for several weeks now.  Walking, orgasm, belly massage, having to pee real bad.  Everything sets my uterus off, I'm fairly aware of them for some reason.  I actually enjoy the feeling.

Hope everyone sick is healing.

While en route to ikea to buy baby stuff, my Dr called and said my penta screening results were not fine. She said not to worry but did not give me the numbers or explain which abnormalities were possible. I freaked out, and it doesn't help that we are on vacation w relatives who have planned our visit to the second. I emailed my OB (head dr, not resident who called) for clarification. Has this happened to anyone else?

Saw MW today and could not get a hb AGAIN. Lots of kicking at the Doppler wand, however. Stinker! I need a another PIA kid like I need a hole in the head. MW decided that since a beating heart is a necessary condition for kicking, we would just leave it at that.

I've also done some yoga for back injury pain/ prevention for the last two nights and felt pretty good. I have to give up on the lying on abdomen positions for comfort's sake, but I can still do child's pose, so score for me.

Cardigan, how scary! What is the penta screening? Was it the prenatal screening? Let us know when you learn more. Sending you good vibes.

What a scary phone call to receive! You must have been going crazy....did you hear back from anyone? Hugs to you and I hope it's nothing serious.

We are and I can't believe I will be able to relax and actually move into a place and not feel like I'm on the edge of my seat because we have to move again.  Sigh....  Such a good feeling, well it will be when we get our pre-approval. thumb.gif

Cardigan - you must be so anxious.  Not a good thing when your trying to relax on vacation.  Hopefully you'll hear something soon.

3 more days and we get to see this little guy at our organ scan.  I can't wait to know if were having a boy or girl!!

Cardigan- its like a quad screen for down's, etc, right? That's a very stressful phone call, I'm sorry.

If it helps put your mind at ease a little, there are often false positives with this type of test. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about. You have an anatomy scan soon, no?

Cardigan- I don't have any experience with that screening. I hope you get some clarification soon!

Cathy- Congrats on moving forward on the homebuying!  So exciting.  I really want sell our current place and move into something with both more space (we are in a 2 bed) and some outdoor space (not nearly as much as you'll have!)  for gardening and playing, but that's not going to happen for another year.   We need to do some things around here to get it ready to sell.

My DH did try to make the most of what we have and built three large raised beds and got a great yield the last two years.  There is nothing like tomatoes straight from the backyard:)  DH hoped to do some preparation outside today but we just got another 8in of snow here.  I'm really done with that.

AFM: After weeks stressing because i have yet to feel really consistent movement, and only a few thumps here and there the last few days I had my anatomy scan today (18 w 4days).  Tech was really patient with this baby who would not stop moving. at all.  Its so amazing that I can't feel any of it!  Placenta is posterior and high up, not like last time when i had partial previa and needed a repeat scan at 32 weeks. Yay! Thankfully everything else looked really good.  I am so grateful.

Now that its done, I have my first appt with my new midwife practice at the local Birth Center on 3/26.  I just wanted to try to rule out anything that would place me at higher risk of complications ahead of time. I can't wait to get to know the practice better and start preparing for birth.  Next step narrowing down a doula and getting my house in order:0
