have you ever tried them? I'd be curious to know how it does...
at least your mother in law tried...lol
I told mine we were using cloth and she bought us lots of sposies....cause she thinks we just can't afford them.

I read about these several months ago on another board and one of the moms there said that one of the main reasons this particular picture of them looks so horrid is that the cover is tied on TOTALLY wrong. The tails are supposed to wrap around and tie in the front and the back, making a much trimmer package and looking more like a normal cover or even sort of wool-soakerish (with the bow in front, etc.). That mom also seconded the opinion that they've been around forever and are actually reasonably effective for an ultra-cheap waterproof layer.

i think they look icky and silly to boot. and i also would be concerned abt the idea of pliable plastic within my baby's reach. but to be fair, at the www.eenee.com site they sell snibbs and say "waterproof but breathable (woven nylon with polyurethane coating), no P.V.C" still icky, but i know a lot of mamas, myself included, were really concerned abt a potential product on the market made of PVC. so, rest assured they are not chemically dangerous to baby, just super ugly.

I have actually looked at a similar-ish type of product but never purchased it. Its called Angel Tie Wraps and are made of nylon. They are sold at Born to Love . I just figured trying to tie a wrap onto my locomotive would be frustrating in the extreme so I never bothered LOL!

The eenee ones are a huge cut about the generic ones, and look nothing like that one on ebay - they're similar in texture to bummis whisper pants and are bound on the edges.

But these things, while offending the sensitivies of our more fastidious members, do work quite adequately for small babies. There is no way on this earth a baby would be able to tear a piece off it and choke on it. They're not in the least bit like a garbage bag to touch either - they're like regular plastic pants

Maybe PUL is more aesthetically pleasing but not really all that much different. I think all these arguments are a little biased - fine, they may end up in landfill but so will many PUL items - I for one wont be selling most of our HH because they're getting pretty worn out with 12 months of constant use (and wont really be saleable) and I've got no more children coming to use them on, so they'll go in the bin when they're outgrown. How long does PUL take to break down? The polyurethane has actually become unattached from the polyester on several of ours and guess what it looks and feels exactly like? Cling wrap! They still work though.

Each to their own, I think. There's plenty of people who use cloth but dont have the desire or interest to become totally obsessed with it like we are. If it works and its cheap, they like it and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Now, maybe I'm just being silly, but how is it possible to keep something that is ON your baby out of his/her reach?

Like I'm going to put something on them that I'm worried that they can't touch?

What's next? Put shoes made from toxic waste on your kid but make sure they don't "reach" them?

Karla
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!!

I also have to say though that baby is ADORABLE!

I think they'd be really hot.

When I first read that, I read "hot" as in look fabulous. :LOL Then the logical part of my brain kicked in.

Why would you put your baby in a high-class garbage bag?
a) It beats having him/her cruise around with "Safeway" on
his/her butt
b) All the pretty soakers are sitting in, on, or under
Jenninseattle's changing table, and if we can't have wool,
then why not a garbage bag
c) The clear plastic would let you witness the diaper being soiled
d) This is high-fashion at its best

What scares me the most is what if the baby pulls on ties hanging off the side and puts it in his/her mouth? If its plastic bag material, it is very easy to rip.

Maybe they will come out with sippies made from PVC pipe.

[Maybe they will come out with sippies made from PVC pipe.]

You know, it wouldn't surprise me if someone already had. Yikes!

ewwww. i dont like them. they do look like a the plastic bbq or seafood bibs that you get or a grocery bag! and as far as being reusable - 10 times in not very much when it comes to diaper changes.

they also seen dangerous to me. what if your baby was playing with them and tried to eat one? i know my daughter LOVES to play with her dipes and covers. She loves to pull them all off of their shelf and to play peek a boo with them. it seems strange to have to keep something they wear away from them, ya know?!

Jenn! I saw your self given ddddc! HILARIOUS! :

I'm gonna give myself one that says "Don't sell to Jenn, sell to me!"

An about the snibbs, I don't care how usable they are. I reserve the right to find anything I want horrible whether it is useful to someone or not. I am sure there is someone out there who can't believe I put wool on my baby.

Ugh - I just saw those and they're awdul! I'd nevber put my baby's butt in one of those

For the record, they are NOT plastic bag or garbage bag material. They are made from a thicker, softer plastic with some amount of stretch but I couldn't break it by pulling, so I doubt a baby could either.

I haven't used one yet, but like I said, I have one in the car and one in the diaper bag for emergencies. Doesn't take up any space at all and gives me peace of mind, should we get a flat tire or get stuck in a public place with no clean covers.

"The Snibbs are made of extra thin and soft quality PVC-film."

poly vinyl chloride is the most toxic thing you could possibly diaper your child with. how disgusting.

sure, to each his own, but my babies have to live in the world this cripe contaminates. gag.
