Why isn't my Diva working for me?!

Hi mamas!

Without getting too icky for y'all, I'm having major problems with my Diva. I had the same issue with a Keeper which is why i switched.

I've had 2 vaginal births (the last one natural, no stitches but the first one a bad episiotomy which had to be surgically repaired twice). Don't think the muscle tone is all it could be and I've been working the kegels.

Is it possible I"m tilted wrong or something? I get barely any flow into the cup, though I know it's in the right place and open (feels fine) and leak like crazy!

Help!

Is it possible you got a pre-pregnancy size?
Is there a little "2" inside the cup at the very bottom?

I'm having trouble with mine too. I have a low uterus, shorter 'canal' and for whatever reason I can't get it high enough so the end sticks out and tilts when I sit/shift because it catches on my panties (sorry if thats TMI). I'm working on Kegels as well.. but so far no go.

I've decided to try sea sponges instead. Called Sea Pearls. They work just like tampons (same size even) but are reusable. I was grossed out at the idea of them at first (I'm a bit dramatic like that) but they aren't really a big deal at all. Though I DO plan my day around how long they'll be 'effective' while I'm out.

So I'm rambling here.. but wanted you to know that you're not alone. That Diva cup just didn't work for me either. Dangit.

Google for more info or I can be more specific about the sea sponge alternative if you like..

I have a tilted uterus and the Diva is working just fine for me (I just got it three days ago, and started my flow yesterday -- so far not one leak!)

I had to cut off the stem completely (it was poking) and I'm not entirely sure I wear mine as high as some other women would (it kinda pokes out a bit -- and would pop out if it weren't for the fact that my muscles down there are *tight* -- I do tons of kegels). I bought the larger size, b/c I'm almost 30 and plan on having a child soon, which would mean I would need that size anyway. That size is working just fine for me!

You could be having muscle tone problems (kegels!) or it could be an insertion problem -- are you angling it towards your back?

I never tried the Keeper, but I did have major leakage issues with the Instead cups. The Diva works 120% better for me. Maybe some of us just fit one method better than the other?

Good luck with it! I'm a huge fan of my new Diva I never liked tampons or Instead b/c of the leakage issues, but I haven't leaked a single drop with the Diva...

I have a Diva and a tilted uterus and a vag delivery....
When I first got the cup, it leaked a lot. I always had to use back-up. I started doing a TON of kegels, and now it only leaks in the evenings (when my muscles must be looser). It's weird. Still doing kegels!

I've also had to cut off the entire stem, because of rubbing (especially in the evenings....). Works just fine without it--so don't be afraid to cut it off!

Okay, I guess it's the kegel thing! I do have the right one (size for after vaginal delivery).

Kegels it is...and a backup mamapad! Blech. Aunt Flo has (thankfully) departed for the month so I have a respite before having to try again!

Thanks everyone. Any other suggestions are ALWAYS welcome!
Best!
