Diva Cup, Moon Cup, Keeper, and Instead (among threads)

Thread Starter
I read a thread a few months (or years) ago about alternatives to used or cloth napkins. I have tried the sea sponge as an alternative to a tampon, and I'm ready to try a cup. I did a search on the Diva cup on this forum; and, I found a ton of threads.

If you would like to learn more, try reading these threads. This list does not include all of the threads about the Diva cup and its alternatives, but it includes some of the best posts.

Among the most frequent comments:
(1) people have completely cut of the stem to make it more comfortable.
(2) people who have trouble with leaking and slippage have corrected it by doing exercise, especially kegels.

I think I am ready to try a cup out myself.

Cheers,
Caitlin

I'm an avid Instead fan. Haven't tried any of the other cups because this is working so well for me. And it has no stem to cut off.

It would be great if either or both of you could go to the rate it page and add your comments there. I didn't know that Target sold something like that !! That's great !

Note that Instead is not supposed to be reused. You CAN reuse it--I have used the same one about 5 times before throwing it away, and some people on these boards have reported using the same one for many cycles--but it is designed as a disposable product, so the manufacturer is not going to take any responsibility if you get infected or injured when reusing it.

Go with a Keeper or DivaCup instead. Both have a money-back guarantee!

I have reused the instead also. I think the only reason they say not to reuse it is because they want you to buy more.

I hated the Instead. I always made a mess retrieving it, which I found difficult. It was not as uncomfortable for me as tampons (the only tampon I ever felt comfortable using was the ob, but I still used a pad if I had a choice), but I have always been able to feel anything inserted that high. The Diva is much lower and I don't notice it at all. Also I can get it out without any spills. But of course, YMMV. That's the beautiful thing about getting to know your own body--recognizing that it's not exactly the same as anyone else's.

For the record, I haven't felt the need to trim the stem, although the stem is kind of superfluous. It's the little grips at the base of the cup that are really critical in my book.
