Weekly Chat - March 17 to 23 - Page 2

Oh no! That sounds awful. We have yet to experience such things thankfully, but there's still plenty of time for that! I hope you get over the pinworm problem soon, it must be quite unpleasant to have to deal with, especially when you're not feeling great.

Ugh. We had pinworms my last pregnancy cleared them up the first time and then 2 months later I had them again. I read diatomaceous earth can prevent pinworms, so that might be something to look into because its generally safe pregnant or not. We have been lucky and avoided lice so far; although we've had to deal with scabies a few years ago. Double ugh.

serafina: that sucks about pinworms. we have never had to deal with them...sounds like an incredible hassle!

lice is going around my son's classroom right now (his shoulder-length hair is slathered in essential oils, & olive oil...it is the last thing i want to deal with).

Lice is going around our city at the moment I heard from a friend who works in a daycare.  Shudder.  I had to deal with that 5.5 years ago (and of course once when I was a kiddo) and I never want to again.  Wouldn't it just be the thing if we had both ends crawling with ickies at the same time???!!!

that would be horrible.... laundry 24/7 :(

i hate lice...it seems epidemic in my kids school this year.

he had it once already...i spent HOURS & HOURS picking knits from his hair (shoulder length curly hair).

if lice is going around take preventative measures...lice like clean straight hair (i cover my kid's head in olive oil infused with thieves (an essential oil with clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, & rosemary).

good luck with the pinworms & i hope you keep the lice at bay.

I wish I could have control all the time but when they are at their dad's I just don't know how he is handling them. sigh.

Serafina: Yikes!  I'd never heard of pinworms until just now!  That sounds like a raging PITA.

tillymonster:  I hope you get some good news soon so you can stop stressing and know how to plan.

thefreckledmama:  My insurance is the same way, though birth center options are a bit far away for comfort here.  The practice I chose has several CNMs on staff along with OBs, and it sounds like they're pretty good about sticking with birth plans unless there's an emergency.

nettlesoup:  Such a change in plans is disappointing.  Sorry to hear that!  Here's hoping spring weather comes SOON!

amandabee:  How did your appointment go?

I'm trying to get a bunch of work work done this week in advance of six days of travel next week (and after four days out of town last week).  Yesterday evening, I went to a sewing class with my mother to learn about our new machines (my birthday gift!), so I'm looking forward to putting mine to good use.  Coincidentally, one of the other women in the class is a doula and doula trainer so I had a good little chat with her (she spoke highly of the OB/CNM practice I'm using -- yay!).  Tonight is all about the groceries, since we're looking a little Old Mother Hubbard.  Friday is my 15 week appointment, then I'm headed down to the camp at which I worked when I was younger for an overnight with some fellow former staff.  Hopefully the electric is on in the cabin we're using.  Otherwise, it's going to be a cold one!

Sounds like some very productive days-- mine are still exhausting and I'm worried this 1st trimester sickness is going to continue for a bit. We are in the midst of some crazy stuff-- whether or not we will even live in this state next month, applying for assistance which is always depressing and lengthy. My DH told me we are going to really struggle to pay for the doula I desperately want and need. It's all up in the air. I just pray DH gets work soon because a big out of state move doesn't seem feasible right now as sick and exhausted as I am.

Hugs!!! Job and money stresses are some of the worst kind. I hope it all works out and you get to stay put.

Stayed home from work today because of a cold. I might have gone anyway if I wasn't pregnant since it's a really light cold but since I can't take any of the really interesting drugs that would make my sinuses actually non-painful I figured I'd be better off just staying at home.

Serafina, yes, watch the videos on Youtube because it will also give you a good idea of what to look for when buying a machine and what basic features you may want. Hope you get the pinworm issue cleared up.

I'm back from Vegas and it feels like I've been gone for a week! I learned a lot about fitness equipment and what to look for when buying, I'm glad I went. Not much time for anything else, walked miles and miles. Now I'm all revved up to be productive in my business as well as at home! It's good to recharge, I forget how excited I get after these little trips. I've got the laundry going and I'm cleaning up, getting my grocery list together etc. It feels so good to have a busy day.

13 weeks. why do they count this week to the 1st trimester still? shouldn't this be the first week of the second tri?

i told my manager at work this week and it went FINE. i was stressing out about it probably since i started this job, which is only 6 weeks ago or so. turns out, no reason for worries after all. :)

this thread is overlapping with the "how are you feeling?" thread for me a lot. i guess this one's more for giving a weekly update, but i might still end up whining about my symptoms here and hope that's okay.

i've realized pretty much since my m/s started, i've been telling myself it'll get better soon, and that in fact it's not as bad as it used to be already. which is not true. i'm still in it. i'm taking vitamin B6 now and unisom per my midwife's recommendation, but sometimes that doesn't help either. sometimes, like once or (in a good week) maybe twice a week, i have energy like a normal person and no nausea. then i will clean the house or do fun stuff after work, and it feels so strange -- i've gotten so used to being glued to the couch, i'm just amazed at any amount of energy i can come up with. we saw friends this weekend who had their first baby last year, and they said THIS IS THE WEEK i should be starting to feel better! but i'm so done telling this to myself and there are so many of us here who are further along than me and are still having m/s. so, not wanting to get my hopes up i guess.

this week was pretty irrationally emotional, kind of like a case of PMS. it was a bit difficult to navigate since it involved my work and my private life, my fiancé, my friends, just everything. i didn't act on my weird feelings though so that's good.

but i had a ton of nightmares, especially this weekend and maybe there's a common cause for both of these things. the dreams i'm having are very different from the dreams i usually have when not pregnant.

one thing i've been worrying about this week (and still worrying as i'm typing this) is that my belly seems to have SHRUNK. i assume the best explanation is that i'm just less bloated now, or something. and that i wasn't showing "that much" after all. but this week and the last i've been looking smaller again. of course i checked the web for signs of miscarriage and the only one i have of them is cramping (like i'm about to get my period, but not quite as strong), but that goes away by itself after a while usually. so i still THINK the baby is fine, but i can't help but worry still if everything's alright now that i'm smaller again. i kind of look like myself pre-pregnancy! has anyone else had this?
