So about two weeks ago I developed some nausea, dull pain in my stomach (and I mean my stomach, not my lower abdomen), bloating, and really soft, foul-smelling stools. At first I blamed it on my husband, who put almost a whole pan of bacon grease in our eggs (OVERKILL!!!). However, after a few days of still experiencing these symptoms, I began to wonder what else it could be.
I talked to our midwives about it, and first they said they wanted to check my blood glucose: it was perfectly normal. Then they said to try going gluten-free for a week, as sometimes pregnancy can cause food sensitivities that a person never had before. So I did that (note: I did cheat once or twice, but it has been days since the last "cheat" and it was a small one): still experiencing the symptoms.
They said if the GF diet didn't work, to try going dairy free for a week and see if that helped. Granted, it's only been a day or so of going without dairy (except for a little butter), and my symptoms are still here and I am so uncomfortable!!
Is it possible to develop IBS during late pregnancy? Do my symptoms even fit into what IBS is? I have no experience with it, so I'm not sure what to look for. I just know that I am desperate to find a way to get rid of it.
Can anyone relate or offer advice/suggestions?
