My name is Emilee and I have a 17month old son. We live in Portland, OR and are new to this forum, which was recommended by a friend. In January I transitioned from working full time and sharing a nanny with another family, to working part time and sharing child care with a friend and having my dad watch my son one day a week. I recently lost my grandmother and my grandfather has been very ill. As a result, my dad may no longer be able to care for our son on Tuesday's and I am looking for someone who may be interested in a child care share situation in SW Portland. It would be ideal to find someone to watch my son on Tuesday's and I would watch the other mom's child on Friday's. It provides free childcare and is a great way for the little ones to make friends.
I am very overwhelmed with this process as I cut back at work so that I could be home with my child more and fear having to work more and put my son in a daycare or nanny situation if I am not able to find the help that I'm looking for. I experienced a lot of guilt from working full-time and found that the idea of daycare is not for me, which is why we had a nanny in the beginning. Overall, I'm OVERWHELMED and want to be able to continue to be home with my previous little man more. So, I took the advice of my friend and joined the site, for support if nothing more.
I'd appreciate hearing from other mom's who've been in this position, are going through it now, or are interested in connecting.
