My eldest will be 8 soon and we've been working on the transfer over to her bed for the past couple of months. Will there be a time where she just magically stays put?! wink1.gif we also have a four yo in bed too.

As much as i love co-sleeping, i'd love space and for my husband and i to have our bed back!!

We just moved dd1 to her own bed in our room a few months ago ss there was no room in the big bed now that ds is here. Dd1 is 4.5 years old. I would love to still have all of the little ones in bed with us, but it just wouldn't work.

Have you tried to get a bed in your room for your 8 year old? That is how it worked out for us.

We've had a twin bed next to our queen bed since my youngest was born.  We've tried moving it just to the floor, but then everyone ended up crammed in the queen bed.  I think we should try this again anyway to see if we can at least get her to sleep on the floor if she wants to come into our room.

Ours didn't go as long as yours (exclusively co-sleeping).  He began starting the night in his own bed around weaning time (2.5).  He doesn't STTN in his own bed more than 3-4 times a month, and ends up with us again somewhere between midnight and 4 am.  It works for us, but we're expecting a new babe in September, and wondering how it will all sort out.  I'm nervous to have DS in bed while there's a newborn there...even on the other side of DH.  Thinking about using a co-sleeper for baby while he/she is tiny, if DS is still coming in.

We made a super big deal about her 'big girl bed' and let her pick out her bedding once she slept in it all night for 2 weeks.  I should say that I lay with both big girls in my bed at bedtime and both fall asleep there with me.  I or DH will move DD1 over to her bed when DH and I go to bed.  She sleeps all night in her bed and will wake up and snuggle in the big bed at 6:45ish.  If she wakes to go pee or is scared we will help her and she goes back to sleep in her bed.

Good luck!

We didnt have an issue when i had my second. My older one was in the middle and the baby was on the outside (at the time we had a crib with the side off next to our bed). Then we addedthe twin so we've always had enough room!

We've done the new bedroom thing.. We moved when she was 5 but it never was enough of a pull. One of us lays with them in their bed at night until they are adleep, and there are nights where she makes it til 3am or so. But there are way more nights where they are back in our room before we are even asleep.

Oh well, guess it will happen at some point! wink1.gif
