Military Hospital Placenta Policies

Thread Starter

Hi all!
I'm a doula and placenta encapsulator working in the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center region of Germany and have had clients be unable to take their placentas home. I would like to change this policy, and I was told by their leadership to find proof that other military hospitals are releasing placentas, and they would consider amending theirs. So I am looking for others to chime in with their military hospital placenta experiences, ESPECIALLY if you were allowed to take yours home!

Thank you,

Nikki

I know that the Naval Medical Center in San Diego allows it. I didn't take mine after having my daughter there, but they did ask me if I wanted it - they would have given it to me in Biohazard bag. It didn't seem like a big deal or an unusual request for them to send them home though. I have a friend who is a labor and delivery nurse at the Camp Pendleton hospital so I can ask her, but I am pretty sure they have the same policy there.
