Not with Denver Waldorf, but my kids are going to Mountain Phoenix next year--check it out if you haven't heard of it. It's a Waldorf inspired charter (read: mostly free ) in Wheat Ridge
My family is making a move back to Colorado this summer. We have chosen to live in the Jeffco school district. I read you post yesterday about Mountain Phoenix, it sounded wonderful!!! Sadly, it is full...as you probably know. I will still apply, but I have a lot of questions about the district schools. Is anyone here willing to help me navigate the district in terms of the different types of both charter and regular neighborhood schools for my kids. If we end up at a neighborhood public school, I know there are some very good ones, but I'd like to find one with parents who tend toward a more natural lifestyle. I know that compared to MI, where we are now, CO is way ahead of the curve, but I am hopeful that we can find a public school (in the absence of a groovy charter school) that fits our needs and desires and it not soley focused standardized test results. My kids are not so into traditional sports, but do play intstruments so a band program is good. I understand the second round choice is where we are now in terms of enrollment to any of the charter schools, but I have yet to call to see if all the ones I am interested in are full. I'm looking at Mountain Phoenix, Compass, Jeffco Open, Free Horizon, Rocky Moutain Academy...just to give you an idea of what has piqued my interest so far. As far as neighborhood schools I'm thinking Parmalee or Wilmot...but I don't really have much info. there.
Our family is totally pumped to to be moving to CO...the boys were born in Tellride! So, I would appreciate anything anyone has to offer.
Blessings, Wynn
PS, I'm going to repost this as a separate thread, but I wanted to start here with the Waldorf focus. Thanks!
