I'm looking for a way to keep my produce fresh so I don't toss so much out. I've seen something called "green bags" that are supposed to keep produce fresh for much longer than usual. Anyone tried them? Do they work well?

Edited by birdie.lee - 5/13/13 at 12:01pmpost #3 of 63/28/13 at 6:55pmI have never personally used them but a friend of mine swears by them. She says they definitely work and work great.post #4 of 63/28/13 at 9:17pmI used them in the past and they worked okay but the maintenance was kind of a pain. I wanted to reuse them so that meant washing them out and I was never sure if the washing took away from their effectiveness.
Now I use these things: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005W6DRNY
They work really well, last for three months at a time and I just toss one in each fridge bin and the counter fruit bowl.post #5 of 63/28/13 at 9:21pmI haven't conducted a methodical test but I think they work. They last for a while. My husband's family likes to give practical gifts and we have been using the same Green Bags we got for Christmas a few years ago off and on for quite some time.
post #6 of 64/2/13 at 12:09amFor green leafies I wash and spin dry the day I buy them, then store in a Pyrex or Tupperware with a paper towel in the bottom. Lettuce stays good enough for green salad up to 3 weeks that way.
