So I was wondering if anyone has ever given birth while sick? I seem to be coming down with a sore throat....I hope it doesn't turn into a full blown flu or anything. Kinda of scary since my due date is Sunday and things seem to be progressing!
Giving birth while sick?
I have, unfortunately. When DD was born a couple of years ago I was in the final stages of a yucky cold that left me with a painful lingering cough. It wasn't that much of an issue during labor, but I remember the cough being SO annoying during my postpartum time. Every time I coughed I had to remember to do a kegel to keep from feeling like my bottom was exploding, Bla!

When I was sick last week (or two weeks ago?) my MW said it was very rare to give birth while in the middle of a sickness. She said the baby would usually wait until at least the tail end of your cold - which like LightForest said, still sucks, and will probably increase the longevity of said cold.
I hope you feel better soon!!!!!! Lots of fluid and maybe try gargling with salt water if you haven't already. Not sure if they're new or not, but I just noticed a bunch of smileys pertaining to sickness:
I haven't given birth yet, but I have a genetic disease (cystic fibrosis) that includes a major chronic cough, and nearly all of my friends who have CF and are mamas said that the coughing was actually quite helpful during 2nd stage labor. ;) Instead of "breathing baby out," you "cough baby out"! Here's hoping you're feeling better, though. My husband has had a WHOPPER cold this week (probably the sickest I've ever seen him since he has a seriously awesome immune system) and so I'm steeling myself for the possibility of going into labor pretty sick, too.
