Feeling pretty sad right now. The plan was for me to not go back to work after baby was born but my current sitter gave me a deal we can just not pass up on watching 3 kids. Plus it means me staying at work and not having to get state insurance. But I don't know what it will mean for me becoming a doula now. Sad I won't be able to stay home with my baby now greensad.gif

I'm having a strange anxiety attack. Not like a full blown panic attack... just a mini one. I finished watching the BBC mini series "Bleak House" on netflix and turned off the lights and thought I'd fall right asleep. I was tired and it's much later than I usually go to bed. Suddenly, I felt restless and like I couldn't get a good breath. Then for some odd reason, I thought about labor and was full of dread and anxiety. What in the world is happening to me? I have been so full of peace and positive energy about this birth this whole pregnancy, and now it's like I am falling a part. I was looking forward to labor as a challenge (as in, can I handle it better this time around? be quieter and more in control?), and now all I can remember is how much I yelled and screamed and how trapped I felt. And I am having all these negative thoughts about the post-partum period (sore nipples, painful engorgement, etc) and the transition from 3 to 4 kids.

Maybe it's the chocolate ice cream I ate this evening that's got me all jittery. I don't know what the deal is, but I hope it passes soon so I can get some sleep.

I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope you were finally able to settle down and get some good rest.

cagnew, I had a couple of bouts of that sort of thing a few days before I went into labor. I've had good labors and births but they were far from easy, and there were things with dd3 that I did NOT want to repeat with this birth.Thankfully, everything went perfectly and this was by far my best birth and I had nothing to worry about. Hang in there!!

I'm glad to find this thread.  I hate sharing too much with those I know or on Facebook knowing they are just eager for baby to get here as I am and don't want to be asked anything.  W/ DS people were calling me at 38 weeks asking if I'd had him even though they knew when I was due.  Don't need the pressure, thanks!

Was sick w/ achy joints, cough, etc. over Easter weekend and have been recovering from that.  That combined with diastasis pubis synthesis pain was misery.  At least my stretched abs aren't so sore any more when I cough and the coughing is much less.  Was sleeping sitting up to avoid coughing.  I'm feeling even more tired the last few days than I was while I was sick.  DH says he's cleaning the house tonight because Im gearing up for something.  I've been doing what I can, but that doesn't seem like much. I felt like congratulating myself today for mustering the energy to shower.  Feeling pretty grateful that DS is 6 and can be directed to do a good bit on his own and that my husband has been taking him out the last several days so I can get some rest... though I'm just as tired after rest, it seems.  I've had a few nights of BH waking me up, and some intestinal clearing, but who knows what that actually means as far as arrival time.  I'm due Monday, but DS was born at 41 weeks, so we'll see.  Trying not to be too attached to any expectations since the mental fatigue last time from that was torture.  Been trying to distract myself w/ movies and art journaling when possible, but have even been too tired and a bit bored for that.  For weeks, I felt extra pissy, but now I feel extra weepy- like I'm too tired to be pissy any more.  Also too tired to make dinner or decide what to eat, so it's been a lot of smaller, though protien packed small "meal-letts" around here.

I'm super excited to meet this LO face to face and looking forward to not being pregnant any more.

BellyArtsMama, let your guys take care of you and simply rest up. I love that your dh as taken matters in hand.

A book, a movie, more sleep, a soak, just relax into labor land.

Good luck and feel better soon.

Need some insight please:

While getting dressed for work this morning I started leaking fluid. As it was on my underwear I was able to tell that it did not smell like urine. I have called both the doula and midwife. Neither of them are concerned. For the last two hours I have been feeling.... crampy.... I still cant say that I feel contractions because I don't feel a "start" and "stop" sensation. But the feelings have continued for the last two hours regardless of movement or position.

I am not sure what I am asking for exactly.

I guess I just feel like I have over analyzed every feeling for the last few weeks I don't want to get my hopes up this is it? But if it is it would be nice to know LOL

Exciting!

Well, it could be your plug. Your cramping could be effacing and dilating.

Penny Simkin reminds us that there are six ways to progress in labor:

1. Cervix moves from posterior to anterior position
2. Cervical ripening
3. Effacement
4. Dilation
5. Fetal head rotates, flexes and molds
6. Fetus descends, rotates further and is born

I hope this helps! Good luck, mama!

Thanks for this post! It helps to think of what all the discomfort/cramping/pressure I am having is doing, even if it doesn't result in labor today or tomorrow or whenever.

Are you finding that you are still leaking? Maybe drink a good amount of water and lay on your left side for an hour or two. See if anything changes. If not, give them a call again!

No more leaking. Just that once.

I agree with cagnew that it is helpful to put this all in perspective of the birth process!

I have been really "watery" lately too, just the change in CM at this point I guess (because I know I don't have a hind leak in my membranes or anything). Some days it is MUCH more obvious than others. Our bodies have some major lubing to do before we shoot these little humans out! LOL

Ugh... Was dead tired earlier so I got in bed early. Only I couldn't sleep until I got back up and packed dd1s overnight bag for my parents and went poop. Just now I got up to pee and couldn't go back to sleep until I pooped some more. Now I have baaaad pain in my tailbone and can't get comfy or settled. Wonder if my body is gearing up for induction.
Tiff4ny, will you have a chance to visit a chiro? That could help that tailbone.

Add me to the early to bed, early to rise to potty crowd. In your case, however, you sound like gearing up with a dash of nesting. Thinking of you!

MountainMama, I won't be able to get to a chiro. I've never looked into it and I'm going in for induction tonight.

It took me ages to finally fall back asleep last night. The pain in my tailbone was radiating all over and shooting down my leg. It really reminded me of back labor with DD1 so I was kind of on alert. I think I was up for 2-3 hours total before I obviously passed out. But once I woke up this morning (early despite being up forever) I immediately felt the need to poop some more and the pain returned. I told DH maybe my body will kick in before I'm scheduled to go in, but at the very least, I hope it's progressing me that much more.

Those are really good signs! Maybe they will be able to turn the Pit off once a good contraction pattern is established and you will be able to labor without it!
