random epsom salt question

So, I'm starting nightly epsom salt baths (2 handfuls in a tub of warm water) in an effort to up my magnesium and thereby lower my blood pressure.  (Along with Natural Calm magnesium powder in water, acupuncture, nettles, and more!)

My question:  I bathe every night with my 2-year-old daughter.  I guess she weighs about 26-27 pounds?  Do you think epsom salts will be harmful to her?  On the package, it doesn't list any minimum age or have any warnings.  Just wanted to see what people thought!

I wouldn't think it would be a problem. Did a quick google search and nothing popped up about it being unsafe. (Although that's hardly a scientific way to answer your question. wink1.gif )

I think their are two things to consider - the salts can help mobilize toxins (to help rid the body of them), or if there is too much Mg, then she could have diarrhea.  I don't think that what you are doing is too much, but just something to be aware of.

One of the containers of epsom salt I read once said to use one cup for children and 2 cups for adults but i would guess she would be fine. Just don't let her drink the water.

Thanks for the feedback!! I didn't think about her nasty habit of sipping the bath water until she did it tonight!! Usually we just use California baby or a natural bar soap made of coconut oil so it doesn't worry me too much. But tonight she was so shocked when I made her spit it out! So far no problems. But it's just been one night. I will keep an eye out for diarrhea or toxic die-off.
