wondering what you ladies are going to do for swimsuits. we are already heating up our jacuzzi to bath water type temperatures for my toddler and i to play in during the day--and i am wearing my old bikini which is stretched out anyways...anyways, it needs to be replaced but i'm not sure what direction to go. ideally it would be something that i could get now and wear after birth too. it gets crazy hot here so skipping the season won't work :)

ideas? what are you doing?

I have been wondering the same thing. I think I'll have to get a new bikini or bathing suit, because my boobs have gone up 2 cup sizes so my old top wont fit anyways. maybe my bottoms would still fit.....

I have always just worn a regular bikini. But the only thing that changes during pregnancy for me is my stomach so it's not much of an issue, I suppose.

I bought a maternity tankini at a consignment store the other day but the bottoms are too small (am I the only one whose butt grows with each pregnancy?) so I am on the lookout for bigger bottoms but I don't think they will be too hard to find. Actually I was surprised that even shopping only consignment and thrift stores there have been at least two choices for maternity swim suits. I think two piece is the way to go. I have a one piece someone gave me and it just doesn't fit right.

I just ordered this one, and adore the way it looks on my growing belly PLUS we are going to Key West on Saturday and I needed it :)

you're not the only one...my butt grows too--my dh loves it! but actually all of me grows. i was just commenting to dh about how this is a good thing because i remember being insatiably hungry for months after pregnancy from breastfeeding. weight peels off easily for me and i need all the cushion for future food. :) but it's literally growing everywhere! :/

Bummer!!!  If you go to Figleaves.com then theres a drop down for women's stuff then an option for maternity swim wear ... It's navy blue with white polka dots on the bust and a red bow between them.  I got the one piece because my lower abdomen gets weird during pregnancy :(  LOVE it though and can't wait to wear it!!

Tenk that suit is adorable!  I'm looking for a suit that will work to swim laps. I'm not sure if a bikini will cut it, and I'm super self-conscious and don't wear bikini's in general, so I'm a bit nervous about now having to wear one while pregnant.  The only time I would wear a bathing suit is for exercising, as it's not really warm here, even in summer, and I can't remember the last time I had to wear a swimsuit except on vacation (and we have no beach vacations coming up during the pregnancy).

Tenk - I love that suit!

About a month ago I found and ordered this one from Old Navy: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=65081&vid=1&pid=895869002 . My toddler's signed up for mommy & me swim classes at the local Y and needed something I could grow into that'd keep me modest. It's surprisingly comfy, although it's a little big around the butt for me. It fits great everywhere else and definitely has room for the belly to grow. Love that it's a one-piece and I don't have to worry about the tankini belly cover riding up while focusing on my son in the pool.

I just got a maternity tankini at Target- the top was $24.99 and the bottoms $19.99. I was really happy with the prices because some maternity swim suits are sooooo expensive! At first I couldn't find a bottom in the size I needed so I went and got my regular size in the regular bathing suit area, but when I tried them on, the butt part was soooo low on the back! Maybe my buttcrack is getting longer with pregnancy?? Then I asked an employee who helped me find the right size in maternity bottom and it fits SO GREAT! My whole butt is inside!

I just started water aerobics at the community pool this week and I needed something other than my old bikini. I was wearing my old bottoms with a sports bra with an exercise top over since it was such a strange pairing, but decided I'd bite the bullet and get a good fitting suit since I'll be wearing it frequently in the next few months. Emotionally I feel better about my changing body when my clothes fit right.

Target has maternity swim suits? I need to find some! [And a pool, but since I'm about 3 cup sizes than any of my swimsuits right now, a suit probably needs to come first).

Yes! They have two tankini styles and two one-piece styles at my Target. They also have LOTS of maternity clothing. I live on the west coast and have seen this stuff in both SoCal and Seattle.

Thank you for the Target tip! I just checked out their website and they look sooo comfy. I just wish they had a size converted on their website. Hubs and I are planning a trip to the US to get some maternity/baby stuff

Do they actually have any swimsuits in their store? Everything I saw said online only. And I hate ordering online if I can avoid. Sizing never seems to work out quite right when I do.

They did have swim suits at my local target. It was hard to find. It was not with the other swim suits. It was not in the maternity section. It was in the plus size section, and it is the Liz Lange (??) brand. But, the bottoms and tops for the tankinis were more expensive than at my local motherhood maternity store. I ended up buying the top at motherhood, and the bottoms at Target because Target had one that looked like a skirt, which I like better than the traditional bikini style bottom.

Good to know. I saw the skirt type bottoms on target's website. Maybe they'd have it here since I live in a big city. Worth looking. I'll check out motherhood too. It's getting warmer here and would be nice to find something.

I went and tried on swimsuits yesterday. It's getting in the high 80's now and sometimes 90 on some days, so thought it was time. I went to motherhood and tried most of what they had in stock trying to find one that fit right. I ended up finding only one that fit. I wanted the skirt bottoms and a tankini top going in, but that didn't work out because I couldn't stand the feeling of sitting down with the bottoms cutting into my tummy and if I got the next size bigger, standing up they were like falling off. So, I ended up with a one piece and since I'm tall, only one of the one pieces fit right. http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=947280080&MasterCategory_Id=MC9 - I got this one, it comes with a removable halter strap that I will not be removing. Don't feel that confident LOL. But, if there are other tall moms out there that can't stand the bottoms then this is an option. It has plenty of stretch in the tummy for growth too, so should last through to the end.
