No Fooling! 8 week Healthy Weight Loss Challenge version 8.0 (enrolling through April 3, starts...

Words of wisdom from Milk8shake (with minor modifications):

"The first thru seven eight week challenges were a great success, and many of us are up for another eight weeks - we're opening it up for any newbies who would like to join the next round of the challenge. Please read below.

 Background:

The thought came to my head because I joined the "losing weight in 2012" thread, but I didn't have much motivation, and I had no-one to be accountable to. I was thinking about the Biggest Loser, and how teams can be such a motivation. So, I thought I would throw this out there for anyone who needs to get some weight loss happening, but just can't seem to get off the couch.

The challenge:

Commit to an eight week weight loss challenge. You'll be assigned to a team, and your weight loss percentage will be measured on an individual and a team basis. The team with the highest loss percentage at the end of the eight weeks will be the winner. This is a TEAM effort. If you lose, your team wins! Your weekly progress will be updated on the leader board for all to see.

The requirements/rules:

  1. You have to be willing to commit to the full eight weeks beginning April 1, 2013 and ending May 20, 2013.
  2. You have to be willing to commit to exercising a minimum of 4 x 30 minute sessions per week - the type of exercise is up to you!
  3. You have to be willing to check in and update your progress and weight at least weekly on Mondays.
  4. You have to be willing to share your weight and your height. (By PM if you are shy)
  5. You may not join if losing 1 lb / .5 kg per week will put you in an underweight category according to your BMI (check here) at the end of eight weeks.
  6. If you miss more than 2 weigh-ins, we will continue to track, but your loss will NOT contribute to your team's totals.

The prize:

A thinner waistline, a slimmer derriere, and the opportunity to bask in the glory of the winning team.

The challenge will not start until Monday, April 1, 2013.

I'm back! I've been in the challenges from the beginning. Then I broke my leg and ankle playing league hockey. Had to take time off for surgeries and recovery. I'm still in a boot, but I can exercise now. Hopefully, this week I'll get cleared by my doctor, to learn to walk without the boot. I go to physical therapy 2x a week and do band exercises. I'm starting to walk more too. Working on getting back on the ice, and then back to playing league hockey in July.
Already started my weight loss program. Lost 5 lbs this past week. Now I'm back to the weight I was pre injury. Yay!

Amanda, glad to see you are back with us!  Hope your doctor gives you the go ahead to start learning to walk again without the boot. At least it is a nice time of year to get back into moving more.

Looks like we have a good start to the next challenge!

I'm going to try it, so count me in.

I've been gaining some weight back, managed to stop "the creep", but I'm having trouble starting on the way back down!  I'd love to give this a try--it sounds like a fun way to do this.

I'm not sure if I should join... I'm at 130 now (maybe 131-132 after the Easter candy has been brought in from DBF's work) and all I need is to lose 5-ish pounds to reach my ultimate goal...but at the rate I have been experiencing on losing weight, it's definitely reaching a plateau now and has been real slow. But, the next 8 weeks can put me into tip top shape for the 5k I'm running on May 17th. Hmm... should I join? headscratch.gif My BMI will still be in the healthy range even if I do go over 5 pounds.

Count me in!

Current weight- 150

Goal- 135-140

Height- 5'6"

Was there any other info you needed?

Can't wait.

Cookie, how tall are you? I would say that as long as your BMI will be in the healthy range from losing 8 pounds (1 pound a week, since it is tougher when you are closer to goal to lose), go ahead and join back in for this 8th round.
