Last week of March, eek!

To get us started:

CBM - love the pouches!

I am very happy to be home again, but vacation was wonderful! I didn't swell at all on the flights, I was very good and drank a ton of water and got up lots. It was great to see my family, although I was drained from visiting and very ready to go home at the end. We did manage to get a little time to just the 3 of us, but I do dream of a real vacation where there is no visiting involved. I can't complain that my family lives in a fantastic tropical place where I get to stay on the water for free, but its hard when you feel obligated to have dinner/stop by/catch up with somebody constantly and its your vacation. I was happy to get home to my pillows and soft bed, I had a hard time sleeping elsewhere, after a certain amount of time, I just had to get up because laying down was too painful. Damn hips. Here we are on the beach, I had to get a pic with the belly out, 31 weeks.

We have our Birth Class tomorrow, so that is good. I think it will help get our heads in the game and get dh thinking about what things will be like. It really is getting close and I know the next month is going to fly by. My birthday is in 3 weeks, then DH's parents are coming for a long weekend, work is throwing me a shower and then it will be May! Aaaand, I still have a whole bunch of stuff to get and things to organize. I'd be perfectly happy to not have to grow anymore, but want the baby to cook at least until 37 weeks, so here comes the home stretch!

Happy Weekend to everyone! I am hoping spring comes to all of us quickly. Its supposed to snow here, but I see my tulips poking through the dirt, so it can't be long now!

adventuregirl, thanks, it is going pretty well! You look awesome in that picture smile.gif glad you had a good vacation even if it wasn't as relaxing as it could be. I know what you mean about being expected to visit and whatnot, I do like those kind of vacations too, but sometimes you just want to go somewhere away from everyone except immediately family and just chill and do what you want when you want.

Well, woke up to snow this morning, but at least it is warm enough the roads were all clear. It's actually very pretty right now so that's something smile.gif It's going to be hovering around freezing all week, where is my Spring! This weekend was pretty good, but DH and I are both sick of the renovation and want our house back. The tile guy wasn't able to grout until Saturday morning (he left us a note Friday) so that kind of chewed up most of Saturday, though at least it was warm so we went out and about while he was doing his thing and discovered this awesome bakery with some yummy cupcakes, so we got a few and headed to eat them at a park. Of course DD then wanted to do it again on Sunday when it was much colder, she is so cute all hopeful we are going to do cupcakes in the park again smile.gif We got most of the rooms upstairs cleared out of stuff for them to do the trim today and we'll finish tonight for them to do the carpets tomorrow. They are still aiming to be done Tuesday, but my guess is they may have to come back for a few last minute things on Wednesday.

Babies are still kicking and flipping away. Have an appointment Wednesday with my regular OB and another next week with the MFM, but they seem to be behaving fine. I am feeling pretty big and very glad I bought the longest shirts I could find! I don't have any new stretch marks yet, but any day now I know I'm going to get some. At least my tummy has been stretching pretty steadily in the last bit, so we'll see if that trend continues. Feeling tired from waking up often at night, but otherwise still feeling pretty good, so hopefully that will last at least a couple more weeks while we get the renovations done and get everything washed and set up.

Katie, how cute about cupcakes in the park! Hope the reno stuff gets done quickly, I can imagine getting to the point of being done. We have similar weather here, and I am ready for Spring! I am over it being cold, and would really like to be able to wear more spring-like clothes, I got a taste of my short sleeves and short pants last week and loved the change in wardrobe.

Birth class was good, nothing surprising, but was good to spend time with the midwives and hear more of their experiences, as well as meet some other local expecting families. It got us thinking a bit more on preparing dd, and some good ideas for that, which she conveniently asked me about this morning, so we got the dialog going.

Got to see and hold a 10 day old baby Sat, which was awesome, he was so sweet! It made dh and I both pretty excited about finally meeting our little one. We are sure to be seeing some babies come soon in our ddc, especially with the multiples, eeeeeeeeee!!!

I have survived moving.  Whoa.

adventuregirl, glad the birthing class went well and that you started prepping DD for birth. I've been prepping my DD a bit too as I just realized since I'll be giving birth in the hospital that might worry her since she only knows about going to the hospital for being hurt. We've been talking about the babies coming for awhile, but I figured I explain that part a bit too. Yeah, we'll be seeing lisedea's babies pretty soon for sure since I know they have her planned section for soon, hopefully no one else goes earlier than that!

jacquelinej, hooray for surviving moving! Hopefully your stress can go way down now. Renovations right now are enough for me, I can't imagine trying to move.

lisedea- what's your date? So excited for you and your babes!

I had my breastfeeding class and the "earthy crunchy" L&D class (at my yoga studio, not hospital) this weekend.  I couldn't stay for the whole BFing class because I didn't want to miss any of the L&D class.  I BFed DS for two years, but I'm still glad I went.  Good refresher, so to speak.  smile.gif  Started reading The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding this weekend.

The L&D class was really good.  I think we're going to use the instructor as our doula.  DH isn't too up to speed on a lot of my non-interventionist plans for L&D so it was especiallly helpful for him to hear it from her.  thumb.gif

DH started Baby Girl's laundry this weekend so I organized it and put it away.  I couldn't help getting all sentimental over a lot of DS's clothes (all gender neutral newborn/infant stuff) that we can re-use.  So sweet and tiny!  I can't believe her head is going to be that little....

Weekly perinatal appointment yesterday...good fluid level, good heartbeat, LOTS of baby hair!

The bad...Baby Girl turned breech sometime in the last week.  Seriously ?!?!?  duh.gif

But I have lots of fluid and plenty of time for her to turn again...right?

Printed out all the exercises from spinning babies to start tonight.

Kate&Joey, What week are you in?  Did you consider chiropractic and/or acupuncture?  Both are effective for turning breech babies.  I am in week 32 and no one seems concerned about my still flipping baby (flipped 3 times in the hospital this past weekend in a span of 2 hours).

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow.  I will definitely consider both!

Kate, glad your classes went well and that DH got a lot out of them. As far as still time to flip, they can flip up until the very end really, but it gets less likely the further along and the more engaged they get. But yeah, spinning babies and whatever else can help give her as much room as possible! I hear you on the teeny tiny baby clothes, I had the same thoughts going through things when I was organizing them. I should be washing and putting stuff away this weekend!

Remodel head contractor was out today to check on a few things and is having the backsplash tile guy come back. He did a pretty good job, but didn't really finish grouting between the underside of the cabinets and the top of the tile and we also discovered last night left a huge mess behind the range and fridge of grout greensad.gif I know he was rushed, but ugh, so frustrating! I'm not sure what he was thinking as the mess is easy to see especially since the range had to be pulled out today to install the hood, I wish he had just been up front and said he was rushed and had to go but would clean up later. Oh well, the head contractor took care of it. Carpet, hood & outlets in the kitchen will be done when we get home tonight, just waiting on the final grouting in the kitchen and everything will be DONE tomorrow. Head contractor will stop by tomorrow night for a quick walk-through with us. I'll post more pictures after tomorrow!

Sorry to monopolize this thread so much, but I need to vent some more. So first the good news, the carpet we picked is wonderful and the color choices we made turned out awesome (we were a bit nervous), but the install is just not done well. My DH was vacuuming since they didn't bother to vacuum at all (I don't expect it to be perfect and new carpet sheds, but usually carpet install people at least run a vaccum over it quickly) and found at least 3 spots where the carpet is coming up on the edges and not a little bit, a lot! Also, the stairs several of the steps are just done poorly, at least it is safe, but bleh! Anyway, already sent an e-mail off to the head contractor to give him a heads up that they will need to come back out ASAP to fix it, wanted to let him know right away, but we'll still do the walkthrough with him tonight I think. This is the part of renovations that I hate, when stuff isn't done well and you have to speak up. We went with these guys because they are more expensive, but do high quality work, this is just shoddy! I know the carpet corporate folks are the ones who did the install, not the contractor's guys, but still I'm sure he won't be happy. Anyway, hopefully they can get out tomorrow at the latest and get it fixed so we can put the house back together.

Kitchen will be done tonight at least, grout guy is going to come and finish grouting under the cabinets. The hood is up and looks awesome!

Katie, so glad you are almost done! Hope the carpet gets fixed quick and painlessly, that is a bummer.

Jaq, so glad you made it! Happy settling in!

Kate, hope little girl flips again, you do have time and spinning babies should be a great help! My midwife has me crawling around to ensure babe gets good positioning and stays there, so far so good.

This thread has been quiet this week, haven't heard from a lot of people, hope they are all doing well!

I can't believe it is almost April!!!!

Hi everyone!  I've also noticed that our DDC has been quiet the last few weeks. I hope everyone is doing well!  Time, how are you?  Bailey, are you still measuring ahead?  Any news? Amanda, we are missing your biting sense of humor! There are others too that we haven't heard from in a while.  I hope you are all well.

Sheryl, I can't remember if I commented in the belly thread or not, great pic!  I'm glad you had a nice vacation!  I hear you on wanting a family vacation that's just you guys.  Last summer we spent a week camping with my BIL and SIL and their kids, as well as two other families we are all close with.  It was a great holiday, but I felt like I didn't have any "family time" the whole week!  We also usually spend Christmas and long weekends with DHs family, since they live far away.  This summer we have decided to rent a cabin on a lake in BC for a week instead, just the four of us.  I think it'll be really nice. :-)  I'm glad you enjoyed your baby class.  We enjoyed ours last time too.  It's so nice that it was actually with your midwives too!  I'm sure it gave you a good perspective on what to expect from them.

Katie, I hope your OB appointment goes well today.  Sorry to hear about the glitches with the reno, very frustrating.  Thank goodness you are working with a good contractor who cares whether or not you are happy at the end of the day and seems on top of dealing with the issues.  I don't know if it's just the market where we live (it is very hard to find a contractor to even do residential work, because there is so much more money in commercial work and it's very busy here) but I have heard so many horror stories that I just can't believe how good your trades people and contractor have been for the most part!  It's great!

Kate, glad to hear your classes went well also!  I am still nursing DS, and I feel like I could use a refresher on breastfeeding!  Nursing a toddler is night and day to nursing a newborn!!  Also, I have no idea what to expect from tandem breastfeeding.  I remember really enjoying The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, I hope you do to (maybe I should re-read it!).  Glad to hear baby girl is doing well, and I hope she flips for you and then stays put!

Jackie, I'm glad you survived your move!  Looking forward to hearing about your new digs and how the move went once you've settled in!  How does DD like the new place?  When is it that she heads to her dad's again?  I can't remember if that was supposed to be pre or post baby...

AFM - Nothing to exciting to report.  We had a pretty quiet weekend on the home front.  My parents took DS on Saturday, and DH and I went out for a dinner date and then did a bit of shopping.  We've been in the market for new dishes (we are down to 4 salad plates, 6 dinner plates, and 3 bowls from our 10 year old set!) and finally found some we like.  Under headings of things you can't reasonably shop for with a toddler in tow!  DH has been pretty busy with work and work on the side the last week, plus he is going to a hockey game tonight, so I'm starting to feel a bit zonked by being a "solo parent" for bedtimes and morning drop-offs.  DS is going through some type of a very challenging phase, and I feel like by the end of working all day I just don't have the energy or patience to deal with it.  So I need to work on that I guess, and realize that (a) he's 2, this is normal; and (b) he's got a lot going on in his life right now, so this is even more normal! And I think me getting more sleep would help me to be a better parent, but I just have not been sleeping well.   I could go to bed earlier, but it seems like after x number of hours in bed I'm just not comfy anymore.  So, that leaves naps which are not possible with work.  Ah well, 3 more weeks after this week and I'm done!

Anyone have exciting Easter plans??  We are going up to my MIL and FIL's for the weekend.  I am excited to see SIL, she is due April 4!  I wonder if she'll have the baby before we leave???

adventuregirl, thanks, I think it will work out. It is pretty quiet around here this week, everyone must be busy!

nstewart, yeah our contractor is good, it's hard to find good GCs in commercial or residential in my experience. You can find ok ones and plenty of crappy ones, but the good ones are like solid gold smile.gif Love your new profile picture btw, keep forgetting to mention that! I hear you on finding patience thin, I'm trying, but some days DD is so eyesroll.gif I too need more naps, but it isn't happening except on the weekends!

We'll see how everything looks tonight, but our main contractor was extremely apologetic about the carpet. He said he uses the same installer each time because normally he is great. I think they just did not anticipate how hard the carpet we got would be to install and sort of ran out of time and started rushing. Wish they had just called Jerry and said "Hey, this is going to take two days to do right as this carpet is really plush & soft, sorry!" instead of trying to slide by a crappy install. Oh well!

OB appointment went fine, talked to her more about the delivery and she mentioned that the MFM might want to induce me early, but probably not too early as everything is looking so great so far. She started out saying 36 or 37 weeks and my side-eye must have been great cause she backpedaled immediately and said, well probably not for you until 38 weeks for you though since everything is looking so good. I think she was just preparing me for possibilities in case something does come up as she started talking about growth and whatnot cause why the hell else would you want to deliver at 36 weeks! Personally, unless there is a reason (besides OMG twins!), I'm not planning on even considering induction until 39 weeks. At least at that point, there are actual studies showing *slightly* better outcomes for twins vs. beyond 39 weeks, but I am not going to get too worked up about it right now as it may be a non-issue and even then I may still say nah to an induction. Got my prescription for my breast pump, so I'll send that paperwork in this week or next so all I'll have to do is give them a call once I deliver. We also discussed the delivery in general and she said except for an extra monitor for the second babies' HB and extra people in the room since there will be 2 babies she said otherwise delivery will be the same, so no delivering in the OR or anything like that like some hospitals/providers like to try and do. Assuming my babies cooperate and are both head down of course, but I have a good feeling they will get there for me!

I am so tired at the end of my work day now! I really need a midday nap, but I haven't had time even for a power nap this week. Hopefully next week will settle down some! No plans for Easter here, though I am looking forward to new Game of Thrones on HBO which happens to be on Sunday smile.gif
post #15 of 22

I'm still here! The April DDC is so busy and they have a monthly chat thread so I forget that it is weekly over here and forget to post!

I am still measuring 3-4 weeks ahead. It's def all baby. I saw my doctor a week ago Monday and she confirmed that it is all baby. I have an appt on Friday and also a massage and chiro appt. I lost a chunk of mucus on Monday but not all of the plug, it was only the size of a nickel or maybe a quarter. The last 2 days I seem to have BH's every time I move and a lot even when I am not. My uterus/belly just seems tired! I have also been nauseous and have had soft more frequent BM's lately. No real plans for Easter other than going to IL's for supper (and maybe not if i don't really feel like it) I have been so antisocial lately, I can't handle people lately. I cleaned the crap out of my house yesterday and kind of freaked out when I realized it was probably the last time I will be cleaning like that before baby comes!!! I just have some general shopping to do and that is about it!

We are getting close, aren't we Bailey??  I am 35 weeks today, and a friend of mine had her baby yesterday at 37 weeks!  It sort of freaks me out, I'm only 2 weeks away from that!!  We are going away this weekend, so I won't be getting any cleaning done, and so I'll already be 36.5 weeks by next weekend!  I think I'll devote it to cleaning, washing baby clothes, and just generally getting ready.  It makes me realize I also still need to do my birth plan, do my homebirth check list, and buy all my HB supplies.

DS was such a grumpy gus tonight!  I think he must have skipped his nap today and didn't know what he wanted.  He was in bed, asleep, by 6:30pm.  I just hope he's healthy, well rested, and back to his normal self when babe arrives!

BaileyB, good to hear from you, hopefully your babe stays put awhile longer! Glad it sounds like you have everything ready to go.

nstewart, sorry your DH was such a grump! Hopefully just an off day. Sounds like a plan on getting cleaning and whatnot done.

Phew, remodel is done! I posted some more pictures in the to do list thread! Our main contractor will come back to do some caulking in one spot, but that can happen whenever, won't hold us up, so DH started putting stuff back last night and cleaning and got a ton done. We're going to have folks over for another board game night on Saturday night so we're figuring out our plan of attack to get everything on the first floor back in order before that and tackling the rest of the upstairs, especially the nursery, this weekend and next.

Babies were both head down again last night, but I think they may have moved again as they were moving a lot last night and waking me up among other things (DD, DH snoring, etc.) I went to be ~9:30pm but didn't get much sleep anyway greensad.gif Hopefully tonight will be better!

Just occurred to me that we haven't heard from times in quite a while. Does anyone remember if she had travel or anything planned? Hope everything's ok!

Is anyone else having this weird sensation about how much time we have left?? I keep going back and forth between "OMG the baby is almost here" and "wow, I still have such a long time to be pregnant!"

DH had a paper deadline this last week, so this weekend has been full of baby-related activities with him now that he's out from under the gun. We went and bought 2 diaper covers, (planning to do flats) and also found a rocking chair in thrift store that I am just thrilled about. It feels so homey to sit and rock with mah belly :) Today we're doing some more "moving in" - still have stuff that hasn't really been organized into the new apartment's various storage options. We might make laundry detergent - I got the ingredients, just need to actually do it. Then I can start prewashing baby clothes and the box of dipes and blankets (bought used).

Pet peeves lately ... people asking "how ARE you" in this overly concerned tone. Honestly, I feel great ... and annoyed at the constant implication that I'm suffering. OR "how are the two (or worse, one and a half) of you" -> fetus is not talking yet, but it also seems fine.

Happy Easter this weekend to those who do Easter! Germany has official state holidays (meaning vast majority of businesses must stay closed) Friday, Sunday, and Monday, so yesterday (Saturday) was wild in all the stores. Kind of fun being out in the bustle, though.

I have been getting this too, like pregnancy is some terminal illness. uhoh3.gif

Yep, that's been driving me nuts for quite a while. The whole "pregnancy is a disease" mindset bothers me, and I feel like the constant "how are you feeling?" inquiries are just an extension of that.
