April 4th- NO SPEND

April 5th- bought groceries, which was needed and planned for but spent $107 (weekly budget is $100) I would feel great about only being 7 bucks over, but i didn't need to purchase any meat or cheese bc they were left and frozen from the week before, so i was still technically over budget. Need to STICK to my list next week!

*Also went to jazzercise with my son and paid $16 for the class and childcare. I love the class, but it is a big expense...may start doing this once a month and not every Friday.

April 6th- NO SPEND! Great frugal day at the playground with friends and ate a picnic lunch packed from home. Felt good to be outside!

April 7th - NO SPEND!

April 8th- NO SPEND!

April 9th- $11 Natural food store, $5 prescription refill, $3 photocopies

April 10th- NO SPEND

April 11th- NO SPEND

April 12th- NO SPEND

April 13th- Lots of spending but all within budget, yes! Got gas and groceries all exactly on budget, wrote out and stuck to my grocery list and that made a big difference, even used a claculator while in the store. $ 9 stamps, $6 birthday present, $5 new pjs for son (really needed), $11 Dollar Tree, all budgeted needs or gift things, did not buy unplanned things :) Feeling good!

April 14th- $23 gas to drive to visit friends (long trip)

April 15th- $ 19 take out (not budgeted) irked.gif

April 16th- $ took mother-in-law to lunch $16, $6.50 Riteaid for son (not budgeted)

April 17th- $25 gas to visit family

April 18th- $115 bike attachment for chariot....still need to get my bike repaired too, and possibly a new helmet, ouch dizzy.gif

April 19th- Hopefully only $16 for jazzercise and childcare. I can already tell I am not going to meet my savings goal of $500. AND $11 on unplanned snacks for the kids angry.gif

April 20th- NO SPEND

April 21st- NO SPEND

April 22nd- NO SPEND

April 23rd- $24 on gas $53 on bike repair!

Arpril 24th- $6 breakfast

April 25th- NO SPEND

April 26th- $10 lunch for ds and I, blew a tire on my bike ride and the repairs were GAH, $32 greensad.gif Bummer! Paid our community garden fee of $30 for the year. Very excited! $6 gymnastics for ds

April 27th-

* As of 4/24 I have spent out $387 and have saved only $125, I only have one more week left to save, but should be able to put away $300 next week, which would put me at saving $425 this month, only $75 off from my original goal. I will keep posting :)

Thanks to my husband getting some over time on his last paycheck we were able to save the extra $300 I wanted to save this month and pay for a few extra expenses that popped up throughout the month!  I definitely think I could do better at this no spending and plan to try again next month.  I bought food at work a few times so I need to plan better at bringing food with me or waiting until lunch time to go home and make something to eat.  I didn't exactly stick to my grocery list when shopping and bought food out atleast once this month just because it sounded good even though we had plenty of food at home.

Next month I wanted to start logging in every day to report any no spend days.  I think that will help keep me more motivated.

Well, I ended my 4-week grocery period under $800.  Not half bad, considering the less-than stellar start I had to this period.  That doesn't count all the picnic-treats we bought for today's Procession of the Species in Olympia, but I like to think of that as a special event.

DD is working on a Financial Literacy badge for Girl Scouts.  We have a lot of conversations about money-- they get a weekly treat&snack budget, get a weekly allowance, they work for me 1 day a month for extra cash (I have a short housekeeping job that is just an in-between tidy-up, perfect for the girls to earn some extra cash.)  But this brings it together in a nice way, and she gets a badge at the end of it.  I really wish my parents had spent more time with me working out financial choices, though I did make some good cash babysitting when I was 11-12.  Still, I'm happy to give her a better beginning.  Hopefully, she won't be 43, struggling with finances the way I am!  She is already showing a lot of improvement--she doesn't need to spend every penny of her money anymore, she's more thoughtful and patient and understands better when she makes different choices than her sister.

Tomorrow starts a 5-week period for groceries--my initial goal would have been $920, but if I keep it under $1000, I'll call it good.  I just can't stop trying!

*sigh*  I give up the rest of this month.  The last 10 days involved way too much eating out, too much spending I didn't track.  Hoping May will be more under control.  I'm regrouping and cleaning my slate.

Visa bill was reasonable this month.  Work is coming in for dh.  This are looking up.  For now....

Yes, I will be sticking with this in May.  Ciao!  blowkiss.gif

So my grand totals for this month are pretty lame.....greensad.gif

SAVED: $200 yuck

Had 14 NO SPEND DAYS out of 28 days.

SPENT OUT: $561

$230 of that was bike related which was much needed and will be lots of fun for our family and well worth the money. I think my spending would have been way better without all this bike stuff!

What a great idea! I think I may need to do this for every month winky.gif. Shoes always look so nice......joy.gif
