It doesn't matter to me what YOU find

I find it really annoying on discussion boards when you tell your story of your vaccine injured child, and someone has to come back with, 'well, according to MY research i found, what you say isn't true'...i don't CARE about YOUR research and what YOU find, and whether or not it OR you agrees with my situation.   No one can live in the shoes of a parent with a vaccine injured child and say,  'oh it's all in your head' or ' you bought into that bs?', or, 'it's all quackery, you should listen to your pedi'...things like that.  Do you have a sure fire response for someone that comes back and tells you your child did NOT suffer vaccine damage due to THEIR research?

I can relate somewhat since I had a reaction, MMR at 24, 6 months of horrible intestinal cramps. Even the doc said yup it was the vaccine, but certain people will still say coincidence. No way, nothing changed in my lifestyle, I wasn't infected with anything, just nothing changed. I woudn't wish that pain on anyone. When you drop down to under 100lbs with those pains it gets really scary. So yeah I'm with you.

I don't have a vaccine injured child, but I suffered adverse reactions to the Hep B vaccine as an adult. I've had people insist that it was a cooincidence. I don't bother getting into it with people like that since it really is a waste of my time and energy. Those types are not going to be swayed no matter what you say - ever.

I admit to not believing in vaccine injuries until I had one. I strongly believed what doctors and health officials told me, that vaccines rarely ever cause any side effects and are absolutely safe. I believed until I painfully learned otherwise.

My husband was vax-injured by dpt and I've gotten comments that imply that my concerns about vaxxes for my children are totally invalid since they use dtap now and it is safer.

In talking with someone about stopping vaxes with my DD bc of reactions she was dumbfounded that I would do such a thing bc "wouldn't it make other people sick by bringing diseases back"?!  Afterall, her husband had polio in his childhood (obviously he lived) vaccines were good enough to get rid of it and therefore she vaxxed her kids for everything under the sun bc she didn't want those diseases to come back.  I just stopped.  I can't argue my point with someone so oblivious that she admits to prefering ignorance over reading into things bc she doesn't have to think about it. I've yet to have someone question the reality of my DD's reactions and their relation to vaccines, but it would depend on the person.  If I didn't know them I'd probably tell them off!  I'm far kinder to people I know since I will presumably need to interract with them again ;-)

A little off topic, but I always wonder about this.  When I see a study that used DPT, and it had negative results, I always wonder if the results are still valid, given the pertussis portion is different?  Or was it something else in the DPT causing the issues? Of course, we will never know.

Op - I am sad that happens to you. That would make me so mad!

I think they are just caught up in their POV and justifying to themselves why they made they decisions they made.

My kids aren't vaccine injured only because they've never and will never have a vaccine. And they aren't vaccinated because of the testimony and personal experiences of parents of vaccine injured children. Thank you for your testimony! Keep educating us and I am sorry for the ignorants that don't get it.

THank you...yes, they do, but they also never fail to point out how THEIR research doesn't coinicide with what happened to my son...it's always, "well, none of my research proves that is what happened to your son, it's just correlation"...i don't care about WHAT research THEY did-they don't know my son, and they can't seem to grasp the concept of vaccine failure.  And have no intention of trying to understand either...these posters/attackers seem to delight in telling parents they are full of baloney when it comes to their kids and vax reactions, because THEY researched, therefore their opinion is better, somehow.

I think the DTaP is probably somewhat safer, but I think there are still the same issues. Anecdotal I know, but my husband has talked to several parents (almost always health care workers) whose children have had similar reactions with the DTaP as he had with the DPT. I have also seen a chart, can't remember who posted it, but it showed reported deaths from specific vaccines. DPT was the highest, but even with a significant drop in death rates the DTaP still was second highest. (May I reiterate once again that MMR/Autism has NEVER been my issue with vaxxes.)

And having combo vaxxes certainly does make it hard to sort out which part is the problem. I am not sure why they decided on changing the p part.
