Help, it's that season! What do you do to heal the evil oak/ivy?

I have never had either, but the two simple cheap remedies I have heard is to use fells naptha soap or to get in a bath of HOT water, as hot as you can stand, they say it burns at first, but will give you relief long enough to fall asleep.

Homeopathic Rhus Tox. works wonders for my son, who seems to attract poison oak through the air. I use 30c with him because he has such a reaction to it.

I second the Rhus Tox! It's the only thing I'll use!

Poison Ivy

I've got a case of it right now, but I've found that a facial "mud mask" applied to the blisters pulls the poisen out and makes them itch a lot less and heal quicker. I've also found that hot water, vinigar and alcohal all help... I'm off to the HFS to get some Rhus Tox to try later today!

Zanfel. Over the counter creamy scrub you wash with for 30 seconds to a minute and rinse off. It deep cleans the urushiol oil from under the skin and you get instant itch relief. Sometimes takes a 2nd washing. Expensive ($30 for an ounce which is enough for a really bad case all over the body -- plenty for a few patches on arms or legs.) but worth it. I had systemic poison ivy (it got into my blood stream and I broke out relentlessly even in places where the oil didn't contact my skin) and had to take prednisone to stop it. But Zanfel helped alot until things got under control. Zanfel.com to find a drugstore near you!
